Only if I do it during a FP or a loading screen.

This. Everyone with a decent computer should set it to this, it's the same as fullscreen but alt+tab works so much smoother.

Is this bug back yet again?

It still happens in maximized window.

Try changing your screen to Windowed Maximized in the video settings. I used to DC a while back when I'd just leave it on Maximized. Havent had a problem since.

Does this happen on the OSX client or only the Windows DirectX version?

It's not when you're afk just sitting somewhere... it's usually if you alt/tab out while you're on a flight path ... if you reach your final destination while you're still tabbed out then you get disconnected from the server. It's been happening to me since the major patch before Cataclysm came out. I'll check out the idea for running in maximized windowed mode... worth a shot.

there as been many many post on the wow forums about that. They actually didn't have a solution back then (right after 4.0.1) this is when the major problem started happening. I didn't follow up since i now have 2 monitors and got with maximized windowed mode.

you should scan through the posts, maybe you'll find an answer.

I hear that in Windows 7, you will have more success not disconnecting if you press Win+D (show desktop). I can not confirm this indeed lowers the disconnect rate as I just heard about it this past weekend and haven't had time to verify the claim. Try it....what's the worst that can happen?

I've been having this problem too if I alt tab during a loading screen, or on a flight path or auto flying/running in general. Alt tabbed out of a bg to click play on a youtube video and was dc'd when I alt tabbed back over pretty frustrating!
