Are night elves descended from trolls?

Perhaps not. The "goddess" Elune shares many similarities with the Naaru, after all. She is referred to as a "being of pure light" several times and the Naaru are "beings of pure light". That's just one of many things that point to her being a Naaru. And with her influence being so far in the past, why would the trolls of that time, being as primitive as they were, not consider her to be anything but a god(dess) and thus the misconception was born.

Exactly, and the Naaru are already shown to be able to change life form, in the case of the Draenei.

I can't believe nobody said this but:

Blizzard Development came first, this "blizzard development" were overpowered species from another dimension than the universe we know. These species desided to create a universe, known as Twisting Neither (or something in that way...). One of the planet which was born was called Azeroth, and it was the "chosen" one by Blizzard. They decided to make up some story about the planet and it's nature, so they could populate it with different humanoids killing each other for the fun for Blizzards "civillians".

So yeah basicly, the Azeroth as we know it, is made for the fun for an international roleplaying game. (anyone recognize this line?)

What I've heard is that the Trolls think the Trolls came first, and the Night Elves think the Night Elves came first, and that they both disgusted by the possibility that they are related in a way because good god are they different in mannerisms.

Actually its scientific fact the chicken came before the egg. Scientists found a specific protein that could only have come from the chicken. People need to think laterally =/

the protein couldnt have come from the chicken-pre-cursor? if you think about it logically, the egg had to have come first. what ever immediate ancestor came before the chicken had to poo out (yes poo out, everything comes out of the same orifice for them) the first baby chicken. of course the line of chicken-pre-cursor & chicken is much more obscure, but a simplified way of thinking about it is, a dinosaur can produce a mutated egg (chicken) but a chicken cant come from a dinosaur egg, because if a chicken comes out of an egg then its a chicken egg, not a dinosaur egg. hope this makes sense..

edit: to make this post relevant to the topic, there is no proof that the night elves came from the trolls, but if you think about it intuitively, then, as mentioned, the "nocturnal humanoid ancestor" of the night elf would most likely be the trolls. night elves heavily resemble the trolls, but dont really resemble the aqir nor any of the titan-created life. the dark trolls are also nocturnal humanoids whom have dark/purple skin & glowing yellow eyes. they are also described as violent & the night elf ancestor was either directly told to be, or was hinted at being violent also.

It was never confirmed whether they were or not. Most Trolls believe that Elves are, but Blizzard hinted that could be because the Elves defeated the Trolls, and they refused to be bested by anything but themselves, basically.

The Elves don't believe it :P. It's all speculation.
