This manga is actually quite good. If there is one thing I can appreciate, it's when a series is not afraid to show that when things fight, those things can and will die. Nothing annoys me more than a violent action series, swinging swords and fireballs, fighting with or against giant monstrosities, and not a single person is hurt or killed.

See that giant sword? It'd be bad if it hurt you, eh? Good thing it's actually made of styrofoam. Those fireballs blasting apart rock and buildings? Don't worry, if they hit a human at most you get a concussion.

Ugh. -.-

That's always the mark of something really good, when dangerous things actually hurt instead of just being a "oh I have been hit by this deadly thousand pound rock but I'm totally fine really".

So far, I think it's the absolute ridiculousness of NGNL that is most fun.

It doesn't stop too, even in the LN (as far as it's been translated, it's still really fun and quirky.

Aww, it just lost some awesome-points for using the arrow to the knee joke at the end of episode 6. Terrible.

They add those little things in all over, that's just one of dozens of references they make throughout the show. Makes em all little gems.

She's something of a wasted character. She is supposedly very intelligent, able in politics and management. Something of a genius, just overshadowed by the MC pair. However, all she ever shows is utter retardation and ample amounts of skin. :/

As I said with her before, she's more then just the fan service character the thread seems to make her. I mean yes you admit she's smart and good at politics as it has been said, and shown, but you still don't reguard it at all with that it's a good things about her.
She shows not only in the show but later in the LN that (spoilers just in case) she is very capable when put into political situation and handling of her nation, as well as giving Sora/Shiro access to vital things such as her grandfathers library and also general ability to do bugger all yet keep their kingdom completely okay with it. She does stuff kinda in the background yes, but they certainly wouldn't get as far as they did if they didn't have her.

Finished catching up to (current) tanuki LN translations, and finishing my horizon re-watch while still keeping up on weeklies (that are slowly ending)

I really wana catch up on the LN, it has it's problems but it's still a good read. Only just past when he first gets fucked over and robbed on his like first night

The thing is, she is nothing but a walking pair of boing. As I said: we are told she is a genius, an able politician, proficient at management and plotting. That's what we are told. However, she acts like a brainless bimbo at all times. She does not do a single important thing in the entire LN series, she is completely unnecessary. Her most important contribution was handing over a key and she almost managed to fuck that up, too. Even when faced against Izuna, when she supposedly gets her five minutes at the end, all she really did was do exactly what she was told to and not fuck up. Hell, when her "political prowess" is unveiled it's done by saying "and by the way, I was actually doing smart things!" followed by acting like a moron without pause for next few episodes. It does not matter much we're told she's smart when she does not act smart even a single time in the series.

SAO does not really have an overarching story. Each arc tackles a different topic and that's it.
