It's stupid. If an anime is good, it's good. Short of anime that rely very heavily on references or previous knowledge (which are hardly any) to properly experience the show, there aren't any anime you should avoid till you're a more "experienced" anime fan. SSY most all. It's a great show that shouldn't be put off. If anything it's a good starting point since it doesn't do a lot of the stupid shit your typical anime does that might scare off someone unfamiliar with the medium.
    Woo there we go.
SSY is a great starting point, because really why not start watching with an amazing show?

Psycho-Pass s1 is also a pretty good beginner show. That show would've worked as a live-action series too.

Come on. Francesca is great, but she ain't got no shit on Yuno. Way too sane and normal.

I couldn't get into Perfect Blue, (really any of Kon's work aside from Tokyo Godfathers) and Ninja Scroll, while a great movie, isn't good enough for my top 30.

Well, Yuno branches out and utilises many different instruments of slaughter unlike Francesca who limits herself to those namesake choppers - but her axe game sure is on-point and memorable anyway.

What I consider classics are anime like Dirty Pair everyone should watch that anime at least once.

Just finished Gokukoku no Brynhildr. I really liked it but, like with a lot of the dozen-or-so-episode series I've watched, it felt too short. The ending was pretty meh and I hated how bittersweet it was.

Oh, and since so many of you raved about the Akame ga FeelsKill manga, I bought it on the way home from work. I've never read manga (or even really comics, for that matter) so it should be an interesting experience.

Brynhildr unfortunately skipped one entire arc in the middle, sped through many developments and completely removed some characters. The parts it did not fudge up were adapted well, but if you liked it read the manga. ;P
