    Quests That End in Betrayal

There have been a handful of quest chains in WoW where the npc involved turned out to be a bad guy and we were helping him/her the whole time!

So, do any of them stand out? If so, which one?

I personally, fondly recall the questline in Searing Gorge involving Lathoric the Black. That one caught me completely off guard.

The actual betrayal is in Zul Drak.
    OT: Wrathgate definitely.

I think there's another one in the Gorge (maybe the Steppes?) where you escort someone (can't remember if it's a Dwarf or an Orc ><) and at the end it looks like they've been killed beyond your control (so you don't fail the quest) but it turns out they were just working with the bad guys all along.
Also one of the first chains you can do in Teldrassil has you betray the quest giver, but the quest giver was a Satyr trying to do...something...to the local elves. Been a while.

Thats exactly what he was doing. "something". He was a satyr so clearly evil. Doesn't mention what evil he was really doing, but you get reprimanded him for evilly aiding him in acquiring feathers and sent to turn him into a tiny animal for eternity.

    Teron Gorefiend i suppose.

    Abercrombie (spelling?) in Duskwood.

When I detect an obvious villain (and they're always obvious) posing as an allied questgiver, I stop doing the questline unless I really want to see what happens. I didn't even know that the satyr quests in Teldrassil had a "good" ending until I looked it up just now!

And the big ones are covered already- Shadowmoon Valley, Grizzly Hills/Zul'drak.

When I finished the questline for the first time and then he turned into a dragon and went off with a sinister laughter I was like "What the hell just happened here?!"
Used to be one of the longest and most epic quest chains in vanilla!

That guy was just *too* blatantly evil for it to count as a betrayal... I still have the staff in my bank for some stupid reason. And wow, that was a long time ago. This is why I can't keep off-spec gear anywhere/have nice things.

Myzrael. It wasn't perfect, but it was epic.

Especially when I remember doing the quest back when I was just a small-time Mage. I had lured a handful of would-be Assassins (silly Alliance on PvP servers, traveling in groups so no big mean Hordies force them to make use of Wisp-walk) to her stone, summoned her, and Ice Blocked. As she proceeded to rape and pillage their corpses, I laughed. And laughed. And laughed.

    I think I love you.

OT: Teron Gorefiend was my favorite.
