Blacksmithing vs Leatherworking

...I see the leatherworking bonus is 130 str/agi/etc and the blacksmithing bonus I'm not to sure of...I will assume its the 2 socket bonus. Now if I'm correct it will allow us to socket 2 +40 gems of whichever stat you want adding to of course 80. Is the difference between the two professions really +50 in favor of leatherworking, or am I just being stupid and missing something??

You are missing, that the Leatherworking enchants don't stack with the regulary enchanting... enchants.
But still, they don't give addional primary stats (just +65 crit, haste, ect.), so LW does in fact scale better.
