    Infest makes me lag..?

    Hello, i got some trouble, this happened around 10times yesterday so not just an coincidence. I had perfect fps, no problems at all, until Lich king casted his second defile, then my fps would be between 5-20. Got everything turned down as low as possible etc, any tips?

    I do that fight on constant 4-5 FPS, still very doable.

    As am I. Unless it's an addon issue like shags suggested, I fail to see how Infest could cause a framerate issue.

    Hardly a valid response.

    assuming it is defile, normally only things that happen during defile are LK starting to cast it, LK finishing the cast, person getting Defile, and Defile spawning. even people standing in it wouldn't cause massive lag.

    however, Infest:

    Infest cast;
    Infest application on 25 players;
    Infest damaging 25 players;
    20 or so absorb shields broken or recalculated;
    infest removed from 20 or so players.
    several absorb-related events (maybe your disc priest is specced into reflective barrier?)
    and all this in a fraction of a second. that's a lot of information that needs to go through your line.

    we need the following info:
    CPU brand and type (like i5 430 or something)
    GPU brand and type (like Geforce 260 or something)
    ram speed.
    network specifications
    addon list (preferably between <*code></code*> tags (remove the *)
    internet provider
    class you play.

    maybe it's just an addon conflict or something (but then you would get LUA errors).

    It's not so much what's happening, as people in the past have had problems relating to the creation of the Defile puddle. When Blizz uses high poly count spell effects, it tends to cause a problem. The Defile effect isn't nearly as bad as, say, the frost cloud effect from the drake in Utgarde Pinnacle, but it's still an effect people have had issues with in the past.

    On the other hand, I've never heard of anyone having issues during an Infest. There is a lot going on during an Infest, though, so I suppose it could potentially be a CPU choke point. It's not going to be a networking choke point, though. WoW uses an insanely small amount of bandwidth even at its worst times.

    When doing HLK progression, I played on a 300 dollar laptop with all settings down to nothing. Infest would give me lag, but nothing unplayable. I also saw some lag if somebody failed at defile placement and it got too large, but it was certainly playable if people weren't dumb.

    As nzall said though, need more info.
