The price is clearly too high for such an automated process. But the point is that they know they can charge us that much for two reasons:
    - Because the alternative is the long and boring process of relevelling from start
    - And, above all, because they made a game which is so awesome that it can make us care so much about a character that we are ready to pay that much to change its appearance.

So, I basically think that the price is clearly too much for the specific service, but quite clearly it isn't too much as an option for such an amazing game...

It also includes a name change, remember, which is $10 in and of itself, so that probably has something to do with the price.

Same reason a faction change is $30 when 99% of it is just cross-referencing values in a database; it's a race change + free name change + extra for translating.

As far as low vs high price differences. We would need to have more information to discuss that.
Such as interest levels/polls and currect sells statistics.
Did any of you ever thought about the cost for blizzard for doing so? Like, you need personnel to do it, and it´s technically not too easy to do, since you can't manipulate a running server they have to copy the characters on a seperate one, change it, copy it back. So, moneycost isn't all about profit, but rather managing income/cost. I highly doubt that blizz makes much money out of racechanges or transferations.

How much is your time worth to you?

Say your hourly rate is $5... after at least 5 hours and taxes you could afford a race change. Good for you! /cheer

How much time would it take you to level another toon 1-80 just to change your race?

Lets say you are superman and can do it in 100 hours to save me some stupid math... to you that would be an hourly rate of $0.25 an hour. Hell, that's not even legal in most countries! >.<

See the big picture? A newly released DVD... a couple beers and a fish fry... a race change in wow... or at least 100 HOURS OF YOUR LIFE! lol

Let's not forget that no where did it say you could ever race change when were reading the back of the box in the store or the description at GameStop.com or even when you clicked "I AGREE" all those years.

Be happy that you can even do it now and pay the $25... or realize that the racials really aren't that big of a deal in the big picture and stay with what ya got.
