Quick question about quest XP.

Hey guys, my first post so if I'm in the wrong section please forgive me. Anyway, I decided to level a Orc Shaman in the new patch. Kind of a win/win. I get a shaman and I get to explore the new world. I grabbed a few quests in Ashenvale at around level 20 and happily went about my business killing things. I figured i'd que for some dungeons for some faster XP. I get out of the dungeons and i'm about 4 levels higher than I was when I went in (it was actually 2 or 3 dungeons straight thanks to a good group.) So when I get out of the dungeon I finish my quests and turn them in and realize that the XP rewarded has gone down by about 400-600xp. I don't recall quest XP changing in the old world.. I remember it being certain amount of XP regardless if you were considered too high for the quest. I could be wrong. Can anyone shed any light on this?

It has always reduced the higher you get in level.
