I calculated the total use of the system with OC, and it should run at approximately 35-40% usage, which is right in the range of 91-92% efficiency for this particular PSU.

I have drank with russians, but love the drink White Russian

Edit: I did get the panel for the picture quality mainly. I will be doing some editing of pictures and the like as well as gaming, so pretty much what Tetris said.

    Edit2: Lucky 7s.

Anything below 17ms is still within the monitors refreshrate and moot.
Well the typical thing I've come to expect from IPS panels is that they're atleast 1200p, preferably 1440p/1600p. I hope he like those colors more than a high refresh rate or bigger resolution.

All I know is that ghosting is very noticeable on something like that.

Can you please explain the 17ms thing?

    Also, ghosting ahoooooy.
There is hardly any ghosting on the 23-24" Ultrasharps. They are excellent for gaming.

Yes, which is the mistake most people make.
Higher specced PSUs is going to have worse efficiency at the nominal power draw it draws in idle. Some can't even output less than 125~150w, and the lower below 10% you go, the worse and worse efficiency.

It might seem like a low watt number and all the gaming will make up for it; But considering how often your computer is turned on and how often it's drawing max load -- where is it most often at? In the long run, it will pull more load at idle (total) than it will have done in load (total), especially considering that it won't always even reach full load; That's why aiming for 75-80% is a better choice.
(oh, and that the lifespan will be reduced faster at 5-50% load than 15-75%, as the latter has far less component degradation)

I don't mean to rain on your parade - sorry about that! You won't have to worry about the lifespan either, as even with component degradation, it should last you a long time!

    A frame lasts 16.66rec ms at 60 frames per second (1/60 = 0.016rec).

    1 Hz is roughly 16.66666666667~ms
So as long as it's under 17ms (ie, 16 even), you wouldn't suffer from frame delay.

http://www.tftcentral.co.uk/reviews/dell_u2312hm.htm Dell u2313 is about even with the older Benq 120Hz display when it comes to ghosting and destroys everything when it comes to inputlag.

Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't 16.7 million colors (which the specs suggest on the Dell UltraSharp U2312HM) 8bit? Or is it only creating an illusion of that many colors?

Edit: Never mind I found the answer
The Dell U2312HM utilises an LG.Display LM230WF3-SLD1 e-IPS panel which is capable of producing 16.7 million colours. The panel itself actually uses a 6-bit colour depth with Advanced frame rate control (A-FRC) to produce the 16.7m colours. This is different to regular 8-bit IPS matrices, but this is a measure taken to achieve a lower price point for these modern lower-cost displays. This has been confirmed by Dell.

Actually, the U2311H is the one with the 6bit, U2312HM does indeed have 8bit colour depth, correct.
I just assumed that the e-IPS panel was worse with the U2312HM, it'd also have the same colour depth; It's actually very good in that respect then.
I'll have to re-evaluate my opinion about it.

8 bit colour is 256 colours, no? Or am I confusing something here?

    Yes 256x256x256

    8 per channel.
    2^8 * 2^8 * 2^8 = 256 * 256 * 256 = 16 777 216
    6 per channel.
    2^6 * 2^6 * 2^6 = 64 * 64 * 64 = 262 144

I really should get around to finishing my monitor/screen FAQ and guide. :P

Ah, that explains it, I was trying to think why you guys would be saying that those IPS panels had the same colour range as a game-boy advanced :/
