It's silent. I turned up the CCC fan to 100 just to hear it, it's not bad. It's only a few days used so far. This whole rig is amazing. As my very first build, I wanted to do the very highest tier of build. Short of modding and doing the whole closed-loop build (went for h100 like a champ). That's not to say I can't hear it, but I can think while my PC is on so, good enough for me.

And yeah, for PCs I've built that didn't have modular PSUs, I just zip-tied the remaining cables up and usually stick them in the bottom HDD cages.

I would also replace that *standard* power supply before you go XFire... since, inb4 kaboom. No one around here that I know of trusts standard no-name brand PSUs.

Which brands do you suggest? Cost wise I would like it to be as cheap as it can be while still retaining the non-kaboom you speak of. All I need for what I have + the crossfire is 800w, but I guess if I upgrade further with a blueray drive like I also plan to do, then I might need more.

In order of "trustworthyness"...
Seasonic (all), Corsair (all), XFX (Core/ProSeries), Antec (Earthpower/Truepower/Neo Eco), OCZ (mostly all models), CoolerMaster (Silent Pro Gold series).

That's all off the top of my head, there's a few others but they're closer to specific models than entire brands. There was an extensive list somewhere on the web of all "good" PSU's but I can't find it >_<

For crossfire 6950's a decent 650w will be more than enough (OC headroom, extensions, etc included). At the most I'd probably grab a 750w in order to aim for 60-70% loads during gaming so the PSU stays quiet.

As for brand: Seasonic, Antec, Silverstone, Enermax, and Corsair, are all exceptional, and Antec has some superb quality low-end PSUs.

However if you're wanting to be cheap, a bluray drive is really not the most optimal choice, and in fact, I'd like to inquire as to your reasoning for wanting one. More HD content than is even available on BluRay is available to be streamed from the internet in some fashion and will not get as easily corrupted as a disc.

Tier Breakdown:


Tier 1 provides the best quality power, great for overclocking, super high-end systems, and bragging rights.  The best of the best. Very good longevity.  
Tier 2 offers very good quality power output, and great reliability.  Highly recommended for use in new systems. 
Tier 2b contains units that almost made Tier 2, but may not have quite as good quality output(still very good), or may not last as long.  Recommended for systems not expected to run 24/7 for several years. 
Tier 3 power supplies fully meet all ATX requirements for power output quality, but don't have as good of power output quality as above tiers. No reason to replace one if you have one, and they're still good choices for most systems.  
Tier 4 units may have some problems, such as being unable to deliver rated power at higher temperatures, or being slightly out of ATX spec on power output quality.  Not recommended to buy except in situations where you will not be stressing it, or expecting it to last for more than a few years.  If you have one, you can probably keep using it unless you're experiencing problems. 
Tier 5 power supplies are NOT RECOMMENDED.  If you have one, you should strongly consider replacing it ASAP.  These can damage your computer, and often cannot put out the power that they're rated for. If a brand name is listed here, then all models from that brand name are considered to be Tier 5, except for those specific models listed above.

Nope you are indeed right, it is rather small (60%)
I did inded get the insane recently(thanks :3) got so bored I thought i'd go for it... and still, bored with the game ... having a case of GW2WS(GW2 Withdrawl Syndrome).

Yeah.. i has 2 colours and i couldn't decide... think i may go back to the blue though, this lavender is awful to look at *only got them because i ordered "hot pink" but apparently it got lost in translation or something... ah well.

Buy a SeaSonic if you do, they are absolutely fantastic. I love mine to bits, it's silent as a lamb even under load, actually my whole case is pretty quiet with the fans all at maximum speed. I love the fully modular capability of the SeaSonic PSU's, well worth 140 bucks for a 650 watt in my opinion. One of the biggest things about the SeaSonic PSU's is that below 20% power draw, the fans stop spinning, which is great and you never hear it while gaming anyway.
