Look out boys! Epic beast here!

    Crucial M4 128GB SSD
    Asrock E350M1
Kingston 2x4GB 1600hz RAM (Although capped at 1066hz speed due to motherboard, but RAM is dirt cheap anyways.)
    70w Power Supply
    LC Power Case

Build I made for my dad as his birthday present, he started to complain about his computer being sluggish. I'm not expecting it to play Battlefield 3, but it should be able to run Battlefield 1942 as it's the only game he plays.

Could be correct, I mean it doesn't look like a system that warrants a 700W.

Dominator Platinum & individually sleeved cables installed. :3
Only 2 sticks, while my brother's getting the "old" Dominator RAM. But looks nice as heck.

^ the ram looks awesome in there though I think it'd look even more epic with silver/black fittings and no copper on the gpu waterblock. it's all personal preference though and it definitely does look really nice, sick job.

Nope, there are miniITX systems that only take <70w of power.

I read it took only ~30-40w on load, so I went with that :P

I think that stripe of copper looks good, personally, but I definitely have considered it sometimes. Honestly, I think going for silver fittings & block would make things look a little bland as far as colors go.

So my brother's components arrived earlier (hence my replaced RAM). On that occasion we decided we'd set up a ghetto-rig until the Cosmos II arrives. We had the very awkward moment when we unboxed the 3930k and realized it didn't come with a stock cooler. After a call, we found a guy I know had an NH-D14 SE2011 still unopened, so we bought that from him...

    Specs
    Intel i7 3930k
    Noctua NH-D14 SE2011
Asus P9X79 Deluxe (model chosen for wifi)
    Corsair Dominator 32GB, 1600MHz @ 1.5v (4x8GB)
    Corsair Force 3 240GB
    EVGA GTX 680
    Corsair AX 850

The case, a Cosmos II, is still missing.
    Without further ado, picturez

Define XL. It's currently my HyperV server case... so I'm about to have some downtime.

Well, it was a relatively minor price leap that was roughly the equivalent of what a PCIe card would've cost... and cable is alas not yet an option here. '-'

That's the USB DVD drive. The PSU was sitting on the side, fan facing the mobo.

Doesn't it exhaust hot air out onto your mobo?

No, the powersupply's fan -draws- air through the big fan. Ie it -intakes- hot air from the mobo. Strangely, the fan doesn't spin though. Not sure if it's just not enough load on it or if it's faulty yet...

  19. #7659
Probably not under enough load to heat up enough for it to need the fan on.

I'm thinking that too, but it was somewhat eerie, lol.
