Last time I updated my computer... Quad core 2 duo w/ddr2 ram was top of the line....
I'm a chef, by profession... (meaning I don't make much money... just work lots ;D)
I'm still trying to save to upgrade soon as I can...

Priority list is cpu cooler(was thinking thermaltake extreme... wc + software ftw?) so I can begin to overclock, video card (HD 7970?), second SSD for raid0(or even just getting a pair of bigger ones and doing that), then probably upgrade my 2TB to something newer (maybe 2 or 3 total... I'm such a pirate.. my 2tb is almost full ;D).

Is a usb3.0 front panel case really worth it? I've been decently happy with my case so far, except the fans don't really push much more then they make noise...

    *new purchases
    *CPU: i5 3570k @ 3.4
    CPU Cooler: Stock
    *Mobo: Sabertooth Z77
*Ram: 2x4 GB Kingston HyperX 1600mhz
    *SSD: Vortex3 120GB
    HDDs: 2TB WD, 160GB Velociraptor(old main)
    PSU: Corsair TX750W
    GPU: GeForce GTS 450
    Case: CoolerMaster HAF 932
    KB: BlackWidow Ultimate
    Mouse: Naga 12-button
Monitor: LG W53 (50000:1, 2ms, hdmi.. got it on a sick deal a few years ago.. love it to death.. owned 4 LG monitors in my life, loved them all)

    before
    http://i49.tinypic.com/2q9ceqe.jpg
    after a bit of work..
    http://i47.tinypic.com/n75w6.jpg

It's a bit of a pain.. the TX750 has many bulky wires coming out and about, and the back of my case is pretty stuffed... I had to shove extra wires below my HDD stash..

That should be fairly simple to decide, do you use USB 3.0? If so do you use it enough that plugin it in the back is annoying? You can buy a USB 3.0 front panel adapter if you really think you need it.

    Good job tidying up.

    So I'm back, with photos!

Crappy cable management, but it cleared up the front at least, managed to get the NZXT LED kit installed and got me a Corsair Vengence K90 and loving it so far.

If only the K90 could do what Logitech G series keyboards could do and turn pretty much any color. Red keyboard + red case lighting would've been a nice match

Yeah it's unfortunate >.< That's one feature I miss from my G19, it's gonna take me a while to get used to the layout of this keyboard.

X58 + GTX480 SLI awesomeness ^_^ now there's a setup that uses enough power to make most normal PSU's cry and curl up in a ball.

The CPU cooler is barely touching the GPU, hahaha

Is the CPU cooler able to get enough air sitting like that, only a millimeter or two off the graphics card PCB?

2x Ref. GPU's sitting ontop of eachother get enough air, so I guess it does. :P

I'd argue removing the bottom fan on that cooler, but eh.

Here's Calzaeth's rig. This is the rig I'm sorta techsupporting. We're done with that, we're just kinda fucking around waiting for something now.

    Specs
    i7 3770k
    Antec Kühler h20 620
    Sabertooth Z77
    G. Skill Trident 16GB kit running at 1600MHz
    MSI Lightning GTX 680
    OCZ Max Iops 120GB
    Seasonic X-...dammit, I forgot.
    Corsair 500R

What're we doing that's fucking around? Well, till my brother gets his replacement watercooling fittings the computer's staying (since Cal's borrowing a PC from me for the moment anyway). My brother wanted more drive space, and I suggested RAID. So here we go, 2x Corsair Force 3 240s. (Not sure if in RAID yet. Let my brother try and figure that out on his own.)

however i do i think i'll have a big problem when i want to reach my other 2 ram slots :P

While true, virtually any movement whatsoever will easily change that to any other orientation.
