Why? Motherboard box rigs are a sign of knowing your shit and all. I love doing that. I ran mine like that for a good month, absolutely no issues!

CPU: Intel I7 quadcore 3820 3.6ghz

RAM: 8gb Corsair ram

I don't know if you are asking us to advise you about buying or whatever, but we kinda like pictures, since that is what this thread really is for. As for your stats though?

Motherboard is alright. X79 is really overkill for gaming, unless you can afford a decent higher-end SB-E CPU, which you bought the cheapest of that can barely OC, so IDK if I personally think it is worth it. Probably not. The HDD... well, is it Western Digital? Seagate Barracuda? Toshiba? GTX 660 Ti's I think personally are a joke, hopefully they scale decently, at least, but way overpriced in my opinion. Again, i7-3820 is kind of the joke of the SB-E line. The i7-2600K is more or less its equal, minus a few MB of L3 cache. *oh no!* Which kind of Corsair RAM? What speed and voltage? How are the timings? All I needed to see was "Thermaltake" and I already don't like your PSU choice.

Hey guys I'm new here at MMO champion, about time I joined (been browsing these forums for ages now)

anyways, I saw this thread and thought I'd write my first post introducing my PC/gaming setup.

(and for some reason I have to post a few times to put links and photos in my Posts.. awsome)

anyways, I guess I'll just give you the main specs for now.

CPU- Core 2 quad q8200 2.33GHz
Ram- 5 GB of DDR2 of whatever the hell RAM it is.
GPU- GTX 650 ti boost 2GB

Yes my GPU is bottlenecked to shit.

and I cant play many games at all(it sucks)

but I am building a new computer this month.

OH! and a big shout-out to the guy up there with no case! Freaking awesome dude.. probably still runs better than my PC

Because there are two Titans just "swaying in the breeze". "Motherboard box rigs" are not a sign of anything, unless you're trying to diagnose something.

Could also be a sign that you live in a country that does not know tower coolers exist, hence no readily available cases.

This is after replacing a SLI 560ti setup. Now I feel the case looks empty so next step is upgrading the PSU and adding another ASUS GTX 780. Once that is done, then I need to convince the wife to let me go back to custom loop WC.

Was talking about myself, obviously But no having a hanging garden computer doesn't mean anything really though it does seem to endlessly impress everybody. Even our tech support guys from south africa think my setup is neat. Everyone seems to use laptops on this continent to an extent I have not seen anywhere else.

To be fair, I've known enough people who were not comfortable with motherboard box rigs... so it lends some credibility to someone's skill, I think you could say. Yes, there really is no reason it should impress anyone, but the fact of the matter is, you're running it open to the elements, so to speak, on a box, so to most people, that sounds really really dangerous. :P

My God.... I hope I never have to go back to running all my games on low settings now that i've got a better GPU.

Going through Metro 2033 again @ 1080p on medium-ish settings and holy crap it looks beautiful. I can finally play games at comfortable framerates instead of hovering around 15fps!



Can't be assed to fix the cabling yet(thinking about chopping the inside up a bit to make some more room and then i can tuck it underneath the CD drive), specs are in sig.
