Thanks. I think that's mainly due to ITX becoming more popular now with Steamboxes on the horizon. This ITX board doesn't lack any features a fullsized ATX would have. It's arguably better than most ATX boards, though more expensive.

Apart from extra expansion slots. :>

DACs are silly (and awesome) because you need to keep them on your desk. I want everything in my pc to be in a same packet.

given the tablet (assuming its a Cintiq), probably graphic design, there is also a SpacePilot Pro in there, so possible CAD work as well, but a lot of artists use them with blender for making 2d/3d renders

It's a 24HD Touch if I remember his specs right. For reference, it costs 3000 dollars. If it's the "pen only" non-Touch version, it's "only" 2600 dollars.

I have the Fiio e17 with a pair of ATH-M50's. Silly is the last word I'd use and the DAC is so small. Really great solution, IMO!

errr, just wondering, if you have your headphones or speakers connected to you pc, well whats stopping you from strapping a dac to the side of the pc, you know, not on the desk, and the wire pretty much comes close enough from the pc itself.

think creative here, i like having my audio engine D1 next to me for the fine tuning for volume control and tbh, its an attractive unit on the desk for my use personally.

Which speakers are you using with that D1?

A bit off topic, but I could not resist to say it.

Back on topic though, I'm becoming more and more of a fan of these solid m-itx builds. If I ever did go that route, which wouldn't be for some time, I'd probably end up giving up my own sound card for a DAC solution.

Pretty sure we determined that a ground loop isolator would not necessarily fix the problem, seeing as how the noise was from my computer itself.

I do have half a mind to return the TASCAM to get something a bit cheaper, as I can tell its SNR is not up to snuff compared to the Xonar DX, it gets the job done, but I feel like it could be better.

Obviously I could still try the isolator.

Update to my build that I posted a few pages back. Tonight I got tired of the coil whine from my PSU, and was planning to change it out with a NoiseBlocker that I had extra from earlier. That got thwarted thanks to odd wiring for the PSU fan. So, after everything was torn apart, I decided to add in some cable extensions to clean everything up a bit.
Once that was situated, I re-did the T.I.M n the CPU, ad did a full cable management rework. Heres some pix of the process--- > http://imgur.com/a/tW7pD#0

    System now is as follows:
    AMD A-10 6800K @4.0Ghz
    Corsair Vengeance 1600Mhz DDR3 16Gig
    Gigabyte F2A88X-D3H MoBo
PNY NVidia GTX 560Ti OC 1Gig
Intel 520 Series "Cherryville" SSD 120Gig
    4x Noise Blocker XK-1, 2x Intake @ 800RPM, 2x Exhaust @ 400RPM
Corsair H60 in Pull as Exhaust
    Corsair GS600 600w PSU (Non-Modular /sadface)

Well, it's more of a ATi vs. nVidia thing, isn't it. AMD just adopted the ATi colour when they acquired them.
