    Leveling BS without using AH. Is it possible?

    So my plan is to level Mining and Blacksmithing on my Paladin this week, before Cataclysm arrives.

    My question is:

    Is it possible to level BS to 450 using no or minimal gold?
    If you use Mining for the mats for example.

    I am a very patient man, so i don't think time will be a problem.

    Update #1: Allright, i've spent yesterday farming. And ive farmed ALL the mats required for 1-300 leveling. Oh man, you need patience...

    Update #2: Farmed all Outland mats - 350 BS. Off to Northrend...

    So far, Thorium was the "hardest" part. Mainly because you need 420 bars.
    I will continue today, after ive found out where to put all the green shit...

    Oh, and check out this neat bug!

    Found it while farming iron in WPL

    Only problem is if you have enough time to gather the mats, i'd say it will take alot of hours farming to do it.

    Everything is possible, pick up Mining, gather all needed mats then just do BS. There's good guide in the web how to level BS and Mining most effective way. Just google wow-proffesions.

    Look up a good leveling guide..a free one online..there are many..It will tell you how many of each mat You will need and tell You what items to make to level quickest and cheapest.. I remember when I leveled my first toon I tried making everything..I flew everywhere farming rediculous mats.. I made alot of stuff that used 5 or 6 differnt mats..basiclly I wasted alot of time..anyhow heres a link to a good guidehttp://www.wow-professions.com/wowgu...ing-guide.html

    Oh and If You have an Enchanter its helps to cause You can disenchant most of it, and with ppl starting new toons..You can bet ppl are gonna need low level enchanting mats..so You might make some decent Gold too.

    I know that it will take a shitload of time, but i got it, i think...

    Approx mats needed from 1 to 450:

    * 133 x [Rough Stone]
    * 190 x [Copper Bar]
    * 70 x [Coarse Stone]
    * 7 x [Silver Bar]
    * 180 x [Bronze Bar]
    * 105 x [Heavy Stone]
    * 5 x [Gold Bar]
    * 230 x [Iron Bar]
    * 50 x [Steel Bar]
    * 5 x [Truesilver Bar]
    * 60 x [Solid Stone]
    * 150 x [Mageweave Cloth]
    * 320 x [Mithril Bar]
    * 20 x [Dense Stone]
    * 420 x [Thorium Bar]
    * 80 x [Rugged Leather] or 10 [Star Ruby]
    * 152 x [Fel Iron Bar]
    * 10 x [Netherweave Cloth]
    * 85 x [Adamantite Bar]
    * 320 x [Cobalt Bar]
    * 441 x [Saronite Bar]
    * 20 x [Crystallized Air]
    * 7 x [Titanium Bar]
    * 33 x [Eternal Earth]
    * 13 x [Eternal Shadow]
    * 13 x [Eternal Water]

    It would take like 2 days to farm mats (about 24 hours I think) as a lvl 80

    I did it by farming all my own ores, but a few things like Eternals/Primals I bought myself. It took me longer than a week

    The Mithril and Thorium mining seem to take the longest..Which is why they are som damn expensive..But once You get to outlands..especially if You have Epic flying..Its is really fast from there on out.

    A) Was never too bad, hardest part is always the last 25 levels
    B) Node/Herb spawn rates in the vanilla lands are ridiculously high right now, you could probably go from 1-300 in a matter of a few hours, just questing in 1K needles 1/3rd of the way done with quests and I got over 300 pieces of mithril already, the slowest section right now will be the 300-350 range since nodes in the OL are much more scarce then in vanilla lands or northrend right now. In fact I am pretty sure in a few spots within viewing distance of my toon there where 8-12 herbs and 8-12 mining nodes near me without even moving that is how ridiculous the spawn rates are right now.

    I did this not so long ago. The only cockblock I had was Mithril, and thats easily farmable now compared to pre-patch. Fel Iron can be a bitch aswell, but it shouldnt be too expensive on the AH.

    It cost me approx 500g all in all to level BS to 425 and Mning to 450. And then I made most of it back by selling the Enchanting mats I got from sending all the items I made with BS to my Enchanter.

    So yeah, its prefectly doable. Only took me a few hours of farming for around 4 days to do it.

    EDIT: Someone said Thorium is hard... well, it's not! Just do laps around Un'Goro crater. You get around 3-4 stacks of Thorium each lap. Easiest part tbh.

    I take it you have not been through the new old world yet on any of your toons, all the node spawns right now are so high that if you where to mine every node you see it could take you an hr to do one quest. (OK not that bad but close), and Thorium has not been rare in a long time, like 3.0 or 3.1 Going around the edges of ungo pre 4.0.3a you could get 4-6 stacks of thorium per lap without even going in any cave just by staying near the edges of the map.

    Not at all, just mine in low popular areas (I lvled JC myself and gathered this mats in Hinterlands).
