Think of it - if Old Blanchy was young, she could've run away and be alive. Apparently old age played it's fatal part too. Yes, now we have all reasons to kill Nozdormu in next expansion, no matter if he's corrupted or not.

Old Blanchy and the Furlbrows are killed by some thugs under command of a shadowy figure plotting her revenge against the kingdom of Stormwind. The murder is the impetus for bringing heroes to Westfall in Hero's Call: Westfall! and begins the Westfall storyline in Murder Was The Case That They Gave Me.

No spoilers but it wasn't horde or alliance that killed Old Blanchy.
It was a threat bigger than Deathwing himself that must be stopped! o_O
