Too long, too boring. What the fuck was up with the idea of Bond being bisexual? Seriously?
From a straight female...one of the best scenes in the movie imo. And he didn't actually SAY that he was, just was calling the guy out on his assumptions.

Had to watch Cook County for one of my grad school classes. 6/10, fine for Netflix but overall mediocre writing, too obvious. Yes the war on drugs hurts lives...*yawn* been done before.

The best part of the movie was the ending, well done.

    Lawless, 8/10

Needed more Gary Oldman, Guy Pierce's character reminded me a lot of Pink from The Wall, almost identical haircut mannerisms and no eyebrows. Tom Hardy stole the show as usual.

may as well add Skyfall now too, 7/10.

Good actiony flick, lots of bad guys dying and explosions. Not sure what else you could expect from a Bond film. It's no Casino Royale, but it's better than Quantum of Solace, that's for sure. Javier Bardem is creepy as hell. Also I'm not a fan of Adele at all, but her song for the film combined with the intro sequence was pretty much flawless.

3 hours long but it really kept my attention and concentration going from the beginning till the end. Haven't seen such a good movie in a while.

    Lincoln: 10/10

I usually do not do 10/10s... for me, the highest rating is reserved only for a select few movies, and this is only the fifth one that I rate as such. It was a beautifully done piece of work, really drawing in the depth of the historical legend's character. It showed his determination and his anguish, showing it rather than telling it or resorting to lame cliches. It, as far as I know although I'm hardly an expert on the matter, stuck true to its historical outline, a fact exemplified by its perfect logical fluidity. It did not resort to drama for drama's sake, made use of mechanisms everywhere that they were needed without going overboard, and presented itself as a flowing and sustained epic. I would suggest this film for anyone with even the slightest interest in this man's life, if one has any desire to look beyond the guns and smoke of the American Civil War and instead look at the politics surrounding its influence on the 13th amendment, as well as the strain and burden on Lincoln in the final months of his life.

I am hardly a fan of historical films. I had to be dragged to the theater to see it. And even coming from another country, where the story of Lincoln's presidency does not hold any special amount of importance, this film was irrefutably a work of art.

    Lincoln
Dang-it I really feel like i have been handing out 10's like nothing these days, but over the past couple of months there have been so many movies that deserve it, and this is one of them. Gorgeously acted and presented and somehow made me cry and had me shocked about a president dying that I knew died my entire life. It shows a personal side the Lincoln I had never seen before and really made me like him more than I did before. A great film and definitely deserves 10/10.

    Skyfall: 7.5/10

Wasn't the best bond flim but it was better than the last (but nowhere near as good as Casino Royal, IMO). The Daniel Craig Bond movies seem to have a lot more personal story in them, and this one definitely has a lot more story/dialogue that pretty much any other Bond I can think of....it was admittedly a bit slow at times. Had some good scenes and a decent bad guy that fit as a Bond villain role quite well. Per usual there are little dumb things written into the script that don't add up and whatnot but I honestly don't expect plot perfection from a Bond film, especially when it's supposed to be a bit over-the-top. It had humor, good action, and a unique enough ending to make it a decent flick, however.

    Skyfall

    8 / 10

It was quality, and a lot more in-depth on the main characters than most Bond flicks. It did lack a Bond Girl of substance though, as the women he was with kept changing and it was distracting. You could tell he really cared about M and stuck by her even knowing what he did about her past. I loved it. It's the first movie I've seen since Batman.

    The Dinosaur Project

    6/10

Was rather surprised by this movie as it's a "B-movie" and poorly rated on IMDb. It's not a flawless film but it certainly stands way higher than most B-movies. Scenery was amazing and so was the CGI. The lackluster here is the characters. Very cliche, boring and the lack of character progression doesn't help. This movie also suffers from Jurassic park syndrome, people expect to see a Jurassic park quality film and they end up disappointed and rate the movie based on the disappointment and not the quality of the film.

I'd strongly recommend this movie to any dinosaur movie fan, go in without expectations and you might enjoy the movie

I rarely give 10s, myself. I knew nothing about this movie beforehand and didn't intend to see it, but I might now.

    Twilight Breaking Dawn Part 2
What can I say, the acting is still wretched (yet improved upon from the other films, but that doesn't say much), the effects are horrible, the dialogue is 90% of the same as it was in the past movies, but really 5 movies into this series and you know what you're going to get. However the ending did go for a twist and was actually entertaining, as was it entertaining to watch a twihards reaction to it only to get trolled in the end. The movie is still terrible, but it actually seemed like it gave some form of effort unlike the other movies, so it isn't complete garbage. 3.45/10

    Red Dawn
Bring on more bad remakes of old action films. This is your typical mediocre action movie, that really made no logical sense. The only redeeming part of the movie is Chris Hemsworth is in it, and even he really can't save it any due to the fact the script he is given is trash, just like this movie as a whole. 2.7/10

    Life of Pi
I really wanted to go into this movie and like it but not love it, why? I have gone into a good number of movies lately (Lincoln, Wreck-it-Ralph, Argo, and Looper) and absolutely loved them, leading me to be giving more 10 star ratings than I should (4 ten star ratings in the course of a little over 2 months is a lot), so I really didn't want to add to the list, especially with more movies looking 10 star worthy coming in (The Hobbit, Les Miserables, Django Unchained, Zero Dark Thirty), but I have to be fair so I will be fair to this movie.

I absolutely loved it, there was not a second in the movie I was not watching intently, and that is a lot to say considering over half the movie the only characters are Pi (played by Suraj Sharma) and a CGI tiger named Richard Parker (which having the name Richard Parker brings so much more life into him). The acting was spot on, and the effects were phenomenal (definitely worth the 3D price to go see it) and actually probably some of the best special effects I have ever seen, period. (this movie would not have been filmable 5-10 years ago) It is a spectacular emotional journey, throwing your mind for a twist in the end, while also driving home a very strong thematic point (a lot of that has to give credit to the book).

This movie reminded me why I love going to see movies, and why I hate cheap movies that just try to entertain you for 10 bucks (plus the $500000 you spend on overpriced popcorn and drinks). It brought a certain kind of magic to it, and had a powerful story to tell (that is not about animal bonding, or at least not the way you would think of it). The role of Richard Parker was perfect, and each scene captivated me in its own way. I hate 3D and this movie would make me consider buying a 3D TV just so I could buy this movie in 3D (which adds so much effect to it).

Life of Pi is a spectacular ride (although a slightly slow, but needed beginning) with a very powerful ending, although possibly controversial. It is a beautiful and fantastic story, and definitely deserves my Golden Star. (My one rating above 10 stars)

Life of Pi - 10/10. Brilliant film. Loved every bit of it, and the visuals were amazing. 2012 is a great year for movies so far, and there's still more to come!

Lol I can't believe you went and saw this. Were the commercials not enough to deter you?

For anyone seeing Life of Pi, how does it compare to the book? Having actually read that my graduating year, I'm curious and a little concerned at how well certain elements would actually translate from the book onto film.

It's nice seeing people enjoy it, and great to see amazing reviews all freaking over the place, but how does it fare up to the source material?

The Dark Knight Rises ---- 8.5/10 (small spoiler alert!)

Don't know, I loved Bane. Even the voice, bit weird in the beginning but after a few minutes I loved it. He doesn't talk like a massive brute and that's what I wanted. Great performance once more, love how Nolan got him to appear quite massive, even in comparison to Batman even though Bale is bigger. Didn't really hate Catwoman, though I thought Anna had a way prettier face. The body did make up for it, oh boy did it make up for it. In my opinion, great film. Great plot but it started to lose me near the end/ The big Bane gets defeated in a retarded way. Suddenly Thalia's plan come out and 5 minutes later she's dead too. Suddenly it was all a bit simple and fast and Batman seemed to have little problem taking care of business. The other movies had Batman as the guy you don't know who's there, suddenly he takes you down without knowing and generally brought fear to you. League of Shadow training for something I reckon. This movie gave me way less of that feeling. I swear he was moments away of gonig to a Starbucks in the morning with his bat costume on.

All in all it's still a fucking good movie, though I feel Nolan didn't reach what he did with The Dark Knight, and that has nothing to do with Heath Ledger.

It still has a lot of elements from the book that I thought translated quite well on screen. As usual, the book does outshine the movie, but they did as good a job as I think they possibly could. I wasn't disappointed at all. You can tell that they paid attention to the source and made sure to stay true to it.

I personally haven't read the book, but from what I heard by the people who have seen the movie and read the book it is very faithful to the book.

And I can say the movie itself was very powerful and will make me go read the book.

Dont go see the remake, sit at home watch this slice of cheesy patriotic action film. If only for Charlie Sheen's cinema debut.
