    Evil Dead (2013)

Loved it. It was pretty much what I was hoping for. It's not pretty, actually some of it is really pretty, it's not clever and certainly isn't perfect nor is it really very scary but for me it was spot on.

The first 45 minutes or so are a bit jumpy I guess but overall it won't keep you up at night. Its when it moves into the second act it really hits its stride and does what its setting out to do. Have as much blood on screen as it can get away with.

The plot is as forgettable as the first but what really makes it shine is the lack of CGI. It's so refreshing to see a proper splatter film done done without crappy CGI.

The lack of humor I didn't really miss oddly enough. The good point is it didn't try and do humor and not get it right. It just decided to forget the humor all together which makes it a forgivable omission. Poor humor usage would have ruined it.

I don't get why people consider it torture porn. It was rather light on the torture side of things as far as I saw. A distinct lack of porn too.

Overall it won't please everyone but for this die hard Evil Dead fan it really floats my boat. Would watch again.

    7/10

    Oz the Great & Powerful

    6 / 10

Effects ranged from awesome to extremely fake. James Franco is charming but his character is very unlikable / is a douche. Most of the plot revolved around him sleeping around and the women getting angry at him. Should have been much better, but still a somewhat delightful romp for an Oz fan.

    Oblivion 7/10

Saw it in the cinema last weekend. Was very excited about it as I love the genre, and it didn't disappoint. I just wish they had put in more background story and spent more of the two hours on the ending.

Evil Dead - I would give it a 6/10. It was okay; the actors performances were kind of ho-hum, and there were a lot of "you have to be kidding me" moments, where the character(s) in the film would do or say something incredibly stupid. It wasn't the worst film I've ever seen, and as someone else said, it was nice to see something without a lot of CG special effects.

Lincoln: Great movie, superb acting, just a bit too much talking. 9/10

    Taken 2
    6.5

Really not as horrible as I thought it would be based on reviews...had good action and of course it had Liam Neeson which is always a plus. I suppose my biggest beef with it, besides the predictability, was all the dumb choices every character but Liam made...dumb bad guys, dumb daughter, extra dumb ex-wife that couldn't follow simple directions, and so on. Still, it wasn't horrible...I liked the setting in Instanbul and though it certainly wasn't as awesome as the first movie, if you don't mind a rather cliche movie, you could do a lot worse.

    Obsessed, 7/10.

It was a pretty straight-forward movie and a bit predictable but I really liked the acting. And I have a soft spot for Beyonce.

I just finished watching Superbad again. I think it's hilarious! I think I would give it a 8/10. I think McLovin is hilarious! I swear he works at McDonalds wher I live.

Blade Trinity...technically I am still "watching it"...aka: it's on the tv in the background and I am too lazy to change the channel.

fucking 2/10. I think the only thing that might be worse than this movie would be to have a horse shit on my face.

Oblivion: 6/10. Trying to have a bunch of dramatic twists all explained at the end. Felt just like Bioshock Infinite: Forced.

My thought as well. Extremely well done action sci fi - loved the combat scenes with the drones and the exploring of the desolated earth. But lately its like that you cant have a scif fi without the obligatory Phillip K Dick inspired plot in the end. It is not necessary - a movie like Avatar worked pretty well without feeling the need to twists the plot 180 degrees in the end.
WOuld still give Oblivion 7/10 for the first 3/4 part - good entertainment.

What worries me the most about Oblivion is Tom Cruise quite frankly, haven't seen the movie yet though. He's such a great actor, but these days it seems as if he doesn't act. He's just Tom Cruise, the motherfucker you don't mess with.

Strange that his name in Oblivion seems to be Jack, as I'm quite afraid his performance will look exactly like Jack Reacher (which was hilarious imo). I miss the interview with a Vampire days.

    Evil Dead: 1/10

I so wish I could unsee this. I was told by a friend (who went with me) that she was told it as black humor. We were bored, and none of the other movies looked interesting, so we bought some tickets. Biggest mistake of my life. I went in knowing that I'm very squeamish, and was expecting some violence since this was an R movie, but the violence in this movie is in a league of its own. I spent most of the movie cringing, covering my eyes, and trying to crawl deeper and deeper into my seat. It wasn't even scary. The intent of this movie is not to scare you but to instead shock you into wondering how far they'll go in the next scene. A lady cuts off her own face, a lady cuts off her own arm, a lady rips her armoff from underneath a heavy object, a lady gets her arm blown off with a shotgun......bleeeehhhh. Too much for me.

1/10 would not recommend this to my worst enemy. This a movie with no substance; it felt like it was nothing but underground gore fetish.

Priest: 4/10. Felt like it could have been more to the story and was lacking near the end.

its a remake so the story was pretty much just filler to what is essentially finding a book of the dead and trying to survive the night in the woods lol.. no tension or scares and i dont even rate the gore that high as ive seen far far worse (even the needle scene was weak). All i can hope now is that box office is decent and sam raimi goes and makes another one.. (even if its a reboot of evil dead 2)

You were so miss sold the movie or trolled. It's a straight up gore movie. Not much more to it than that.

I'd agree it wasn't scary but I still loved it. Sam has said he's going to make an Army of Darkness 2 so rest easy.

The last movie I watched was The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey on blu-ray at home and I'd give it a 7/10. I know it is supposed to have sequels but I would have liked a better ending, I won't say more than that in case someone has not seen it. I thought some parts were funny but found myself bored at some parts as well. It was good for the 1.50 it cost me out of Red Box.
