    Infernal/Doomguard

Sorry if there's already something about this but I recently relogged my 65 lock and noticed these 2 spells could be purchased. Are they really new or just rehashes of old spells? And if they are just rehashes did it used to be pretty much compulsory to attain them pre 4.0 or were they optional for the average lock?

You used to have to do some quest chains to get those pets. They never were a game breaking thing though, they were both on a 1hr cooldown and they would override you current pet.

In Cataclysm these pets have been revamped. They're now another damage cooldown for your lock on a shared 10m cooldown and they count as guardians, so you can still have your current pet.

The infernal is your choice for extra AoE damage, and Doomguard your choice on single target fights.

Do keep in mind though that these Guardians will attack which ever target is afflicted with your Bane of Doom or Bane of Agony spell. Also Doomguard is instant summon where as the Infernal you have to click where you want him summoned due to the added stun affect from his summons.

All Simcraft evidence shows the Infernal to be better even on single target scenarios
