Could someone give me some tips? I just started healing and went into my first current content Normal run this weekend, and well...I got absolutely **** on. The first night was absolutely horrible, and I have logs for that. I switched to WG glyph and Rejuv'd more on the second night, which was all wipes on Tortos (some healer fault, some dps fault). I did better but still very bad overall. I know Resto Druids are weak in 25m, but I'm getting way outdone by another druid and know that there's a ton of room to get much, much better. I also know fixing healing isn't as simple as giving DPS tips (moar DoT uptime!), but any tips/tricks would be hugely appreciated. I can't stand doing as badly as I did as I take pride in how well I play my classes.

I'm planning on switching the chest enchant to Spirit, should I also aim to replace the weapon with a Spirit one ASAP? How much of a difference would Jade Spirit make? I don't pay much attention to what buffs I have when putting up HoTs. Is the Spirit proc a really big deal?

First thing I notice is 3 disc priests and 2 Holy paladins. Next is 7 healers on fights that can be 5 healed(6 healed at most). So honestly not a lot you can do. Your spell usage is good.

Edit: Busy atm to give tips. But you aren't getting smashed for being bad per se but Disc priests and H Pallies will smash us until there are changes and having 5 out of 7 healers be pallies and disc priests.

I do know the pitfalls of having too many healers and being matched with H pallys and Disc priests, I'd just like to know how I can at least match the other Resto druid in the group.

Quick observations. Your lifebloom and harmony uptimes are both too low. They should both be almost 100%. The lifebloom glyph is usually a better bet than the HT glyph. Get a sha touched gem in your weapon if you have no better. Use jade spirit instead of windsong. Unless you are having awful mana problems I would swap those blue gems out for purples. You have about 160 extra haste, use reforgelite to get as close to 3043 as possible while using ToL over SoTF.

100% in a perfect world but 96% over all kills is pretty good and far from low.

MordorFires.. can you say something about your raid / wipes etc? Is the raid generelly dying due to lack of healing, or what is going on? Just looking at the healing meters and concluding you are low... if the boss dies, is it a problem?

    - Your overhealing is waaaaaaay out of line. It seems the raid got too much healing, and your HoTs are just getting sniped. Try to talk to the other healers, and see if you can carve a niche for yourself.. Melees, group 5 or the tank or whatever..

As frustrating as overhealing HoTs are... I am healing in 10m, so I dont really know about 25m.. but I would never use HT outside of NS+HT, and I have completely removed Nourish from my bars. - Initial tick of Rejuv + first tick heals for the same amount of Nourish (in the same time, and for the same mana).... with the additional 9 seconds HoT.

The 'rule' for 25m rDruid is to stack spirit and spam rejuv afaik...

Scroll of Revered Ancestors is a horrible trinket.. try to get the DMC one if you can. Relic of... something.

How is your ilvl compared to the raid?

  8. #1748
Thanks Dackzor. I'm a bit lower, the other Resto Druid is ~502 I believe. I'm getting used to healing so I can probably improve by getting out Rejuvs faster and thus getting less sniped. I'll look for a replacement trinket to. And I agree, it doesn't matter if bosses are dying but we had many wipes on Tortos, several of which were caused by sudden tank deaths or other people dying here and there. Sometimes a healing problem, sometimes others' faults (OT not getting bats, people standing in Rockfall -.-).

Would you recommend pure Spirit gems then or the Int/Spirit ones?

Would you recommend pure Spirit gems then or the Int/Spirit ones?[/QUOTE]

There has been alot of discussion on this topic. The consensus I got from all the discussion was that int/spirit were still preferred for blue sockets over pure spirit. However, alot of top end druids were doing pure spirit, and the argument was that it worked out almost even on a math basis, and they'd rather be able to cast one more life saving spell than have all their spells tick an insignficant amount more.

With alot of your heals going to overheals (based on what I've read above), it seems that extra int isn't doing a ton of good for you, and being able to throw out more spells might be better. I dont think either will make a significant difference in the issues you are seeing, but gemming pure spirit might slightly out-weigh int/spirit for your scenario. I'm not an expert TC'er, just my two cents.

I would at least forget the logs for now, if you dont know the benefit of being at 3043 haste. Just a thought.

  12. #1752
I'm gearing up alt to help with our guild second, slightly casual raid (10m ToT, 3 healing most time) and I'm wondering how much the secondary stats/geming matter for Resto that might want to use similar gear to do Boomkin stuff depending on (rather random) setup. Would going crit heavy be very detrimental to overall healing? Or stacking Int be better option? Or does it not really matter that much in the end?

Also, what would be recommended spirit amount for ToT? 'Just enough to not get oom' like in sticky is something I will work out, just want to know what to aim for start.

  13. #1753
Unfortunately it's not possible to gem and reforge in a way that benefit both resto and balance. As resto, you want Spirit ~= Mastery, 3043 haste and no crit. As moonkin, you want 5300 haste, everything else crit, only enough spirit for hit cap and no mastery. The only thing you can do is focus on Int gems, as these are good (although not optimal) for both.

When you say "3 healing most time", that can help you choosing where to specialize. If you heal at *most* encounters, it shouldn't be a problem to have some sub-par stats as moonkin, so you could just go for optimal healing gear. On the other hand, there is no encounter in ToT that really needs three healers, so you could say a sub-par healing gear won't be a problem, since you don't need to excel at healing. It's your choice.

Spirit needs are similar: if you 3 heal all encounters where you are resto, you shouldn't need much spirit. If you have two regen trinkets, around 7k should be sufficient.

  14. #1754
I know I can't have best of two worlds, more searching for best thing for being a hybrid class rather maximizing one like I do on main. I am aware I will need 'some' pieces to switch due to spirit, just looking for a way to not have 'every' piece between resto and boomkin differ. Based on your response, I guess I'll go for int or int/x gemming then and try to find few crit/haste leather for Owl when possible.

As for 2 healing, I'm really not sure. I lack experience/confidence as healer (only did full normal DS as Holy paladin, 2 healing pre-nerf Madness felt quite intense for me at that time) and the group is nowhere near hardcore level so it does lack a bit in void zone/dps areas (3/12 after 3 raid nights).

    Thanks for answers.

  15. #1755
One way to switch between specs is to change your trinkets and go for sotf and 5437 haste cap this way you will be able to be above the haste cap for boomkin and by changing trinkets to be able to switch effectively. Also depending on what tier you have for boomkin you can still be ok with 2 tier resto 2 tier boomkin . Even as boomkin you can act as a third healer by utilising heart of wild talent and blanket the raid at least once in every fight or having 10% reduce from tier resto bonus (tier 14) can help blanket the raid (if you do 10man) in case of a healer dying .

Boomkin also has traq which with heart of wild activated is stronger than resto's traquility. So you can save a raid if needed . I have actually healed normal instances (5man) as boomkin and it was fun to dps and heal at same time

I would of course concetrate more in doing damage as resto druid to help the raid's dps . If you still want to be viable as boomkin which heals you should stack spirit so you can use rejuv blanketing or healing touch and perhaps take cenarion ward instead of nature swiftness to balance your os healing (on the other hand nature swiftness can top a person which is going down).

If you of course stack spirit you will be over the hit cap so perhaps it worths using intelect base trinket with proc spirit instead of having high passive spirit . So basically go for mastery which is helpful for both boomkin and resto.

    Sound confusing ? I am sorry .

  16. #1756
Aslong as reforging isn't a problem, you can easily use the same gear for Resto and Balance aslong as you change trinkets. If you're the 3rd healer, you should definitely focus your gear on boomkin, so go for the boomkin set-items. Gem int in red, int/crit in yellow, int/spirit in blue. Reforging is usually not an issue seeing as you can just hearthstone and fly back during trash, if you don't have a warlock.

However, if reforging isn't an option, get a spirit trinket and reforge for around 6-7k spirit without the trinket on. Reforge for balance and don't use sotf as resto.

This is the main reason I don't fully agree with Mr. Robot and Icy-Vein's in terms of their gearing recommendations. The guides are built by players that are either underhealing content or running content undergeared, both cases where the more spells you can cast the better.

@Mordorfires: (can't see your logs as I'm not granted permission for some reason) I would try and explain to your guild that you being an extra healer is a detriment to the raid as you're making fights last longer by not dpsing. If anything I would suggest making one of your Disc priests go Holy while you stay as Balance.

@Nivrax: if you're really worried about how you should be reforged between Balance and Resto consider getting a reforge add-on (Reforgesaver for example). just know that it can get pretty expensive if you're constantly changing spec during the raid.

@Thalur: I wouldn't say Crit is worthless for Resto, it's just not as attractive as Mastery for throuhput. Once I get my meta (next-week since 10/12 bosses this week couldn't be arsed to drop a Secrets) I'll probably reforge my Spirit+Mastery pieces such that Spirit -> Crit.
