Guild level reset?

So after around 2 hour that cata hits we got level 5, when I wake up this morning we got back to level 1?

Any explanation for this?

We hit level 2 last night and now we just dropped to level 1.

There should be a hard cap for guild experience, and it should cap you around 50% of hitting level 1. Getting guild achievements can push the cap, because the guild achievements can also net you guild experience that will move the cap (much like how quest experience doesn't use up your rested experience).

That being said, Blizz acknowledged an issue where guilds could obtain more experience then they intended to let you get, so guilds got reset as a result.

In other words: hitting level 5 in the first night was a bug, and they rectified it.
