I've been doing some analysis, and I think there are some RNG issues with the AM proc.
I frequently (well over 50% of the cases) get to cast 10 ABs before AM procs.
Now with a 40% chance of procing, the chances of a streak of 10 ABs without a proc is 0.6%, it should happen rarely.
Is anyone else having this issue?

Arcane and AM proc rates?
Challenge Mode : Play WoW like my disability has me play:
You will need two people, Brian MUST use the mouse for movement/looking and John MUST use the keyboard for casting, attacking, healing etc.
Briand and John share the same goal, same intentions - but they can't talk to each other, however they can react to each other's in game activities.
Now see how far Brian and John get in WoW.

every time we're still #1 in damage/dps on a single-target fight. (at least i am, i think i can speak for most mages)
i think arcane is pulling its weight regardless if there's an issue. we're hitting almost twice as hard as any one else with our main nuke and we shouldn't start bringing up issues imo. we have a good thing going, don't f*ck it up.

No QQing here (apart from yours) - just asking if anyone else is having a problem with the Proc rate - 10 ABs is far too many to sustain, so my DPS for the entire fight ends up dropping down far too much.

No problem here. Four AB casts without an AM proc is a lot for me. Maybe you're really, really unlucky or something. :P

Remember there is always a Arcane Barrage spell that removes the buff of AB stacks so you dont have that much to complain

Nope, i proc a shitton. Am is almost always up when i need it, if not ill dump my ab stacks on barrage. Its also worth mentioning that if you wanna regen some mana throw fire orb down. I fire orb and spam AM the entire duration of the flame orb, hasn't failed me yet and its quite fun, its like casting am for 15 seconds straight, chaining one right after the other, all for the low cost of the one fire orb (which deals damage while its out too) :]

Its completely random for me....making a portal will proc my AM, but ABx8 doesnt sometimes....very odd. What I;ve been doing, which is smart anyway, is keeping my mana shield up whenever its off CD....thats a low cost ability that will generate more SP when borken , and also can proc my AM
