Unhappy with Shadow DPS...

So currently I'm unhappy with my dps as shadow and I'm a veteran shadow priest.

I find that EVERY melee class has little to no difficulty out dps'ing me in equal leveled gear.
I'm watching DK's and Fury warriors hitting 10-11-12-13k depending on the fights, rogues and even enhancement shamans right behind them [around 10-11k].

Meanwhile I'm seeing shadow priests [me and other shadow priests in my guild] hitting around 8-9k dps.
The only reason I'm really bringing this up is because I'm hearing people talk about how OP shadow priests are in pve and I don't see it!

Is it just me and the priests in my guild or has anyone else noticed this as well?

I don't mind doing less dps than others, but when it's about 2k dps in equal leveled gear it tends to give me pause!
