Am I weird for questing as a tank?

Granted I'm only half way through 81, I've been finding a lot of success questing as a DK tank. Given our self-healing abilities, I can pull 2-3 mobs at a time and finish with 100% of my health. Even pushing 4-5 mobs I'm finishing with 70-80% of my health.

Has anyone else been doing this? I've not even had to stop and sit to eat since I started questing.

Blood has always been semi-invincible for questing. It's awesome.

Off-topic: Arms can easily pull many mobs, focus one then victory rush the others etc..

OT: Yes you are weird for doing that, at least if you're never joining a dungeon.

Maybe you should try balancing the large cup of QQ in your left hand with a big mug of STFU in your right.

No you are not weird for leveling as a tank spec. You are weird if you are leveling as a dps spec (for thoes classes with tank specs). Tanks easly out dps and out survive dps classes. Tanks now do respectible damage, decent self healing, and a ton of armor. Only if you are extreamly good at your class, can a dps spec currently out damage a tank spec (talking from early 84- no heroic gear at 85)
To the comment about arms warriors, all warriors have victory rush.

I tried ret, holy and prot and found that prot was the best due to holy running outta mana too fast, ret is just sh!t now and prot surv was good and end end of each mob etc I would finish full health with that thing that heals for 300% more. I did prot from 81 to 85 was best by far imo.
Na i dont think it is weird its AWESOME !!!

i leveled my priest from 10 - 85 as holy. Y cause im not the greatest. Ok its slower, but I learn what I can and can't do. What spells are good in certain situations etc. It might seem newbish but it helps me.

So in answer to your question No I don't. In respect you are learning to use your new spells and what YOU are capable of. Therfore when you tank a dungeon you will know the max you can cope with ( with the assumption of a poor pug).

not even a tiny lil bit :P I've leveled a Pally and warrior, but Prot, a Blood DK and a Feral tank druid. Turns out it's a REAL help when question to be frakkin unkillable

In my experience, leveling as a Protection Paladin / Warrior has it's moments. I mean, Wrath as Prot wasn't that great but on the Cataclysm beta, I was Prot 100% of the time and I loved it.

I can't give an opinion on DK's, but no, I think it's fairly common for people to do this especially with the dungeon finder and etc.

I leveled as ret and prot also...yes ret does suck, blizz finally gave us somewhat of a rotation with 4.0 but you have to be downright retarded to not learn it on your own...and I'm prot now...Love it and I sh*t on people all day while doing dailies, pvp, and mining pvp =P

I loved leveling a Prot around level 50 until about 76. You have a lot more soloing power compared to Arms and the damage is also comparable thanks to Revenge and Shield Slam.

I should ask myself and others if I'm weird for questing as holy. (paladin) Even at 85 in heroic gear with exor spec it takes me forever to kill mobs in twilight highlands.

from 80-85 I leveled as holy with a frost DK friend of mine (disenchanted all my ret, prot and pvp gear to have enough space for greens and enchant mats). I pulled mobs, he killed. On clickie quests, I clicked the stuff and he killed mobs for extra XP. Only downside was some of the loot quests, and also some escort quest. But we did take 85 on day of launch :> 15 hours~

I quested while doing a run of each for the quests. Questing is far faster unless you're going to do guild runs where you know peoples skills and know they won't go afk for 5 minutes.

I did it, with a few intersperesed dungeons, and there are few others among my friends who could boast not dying ONCE on the way to 85 (including in dungeons). It did take a little bit longer to kill anything, but being invincible was worth it, I certainly didn't level any slower than the pure DPS classes because they were hindered by downtime of eating/healing/occasional deaths. As Blood DK you have ZERO downtime, even when things get hairy.

Can't the protadins here read? DEATH KNIGHT forum. Your sickass damage prot spec has nothing to do with DK Blood, really. Prot is much higher damage.

Blood is okay for leveling I guess due to the fact that you're nearly unkillable, but your damage output is just shit. Had blood and frost 2h specs while leveling myself (tanked dungeons in dps gear easily) and I tried blood occasionally out of curiosity for questing too. It was just god awfully slow to kill stuff compared to frost. I guess it's for you to decide if you think its worth sacrificing ton of your damage for the survivability.

Eating 10 seconds between every 5 mobs or so is no reason to go blood and kill those mobs half slower.

I lvled my dk from 80-85 as blood, I tried switching to frost a couple of times, but I felt like my surv dropped dramaticly, plus on a super pop pvp server like KJ dropping below 50% is pretty much guaranteeing a gank

I tried frost and unholy dps spec while leveling 80-85, but neither were as efficient as blood. Like others have said, no downtime and survivability against the higher level NPCs and against gankers made it very good. What makes it great is being able to pull a bunch of mobs and DnD/DRW/BB/HS spam with the occasional DS inserted for heals. You can't complain about low damage output in Blood if you use DRW, and it has such a low CD!

I didn't even mention RS, which is big damage. With 20k+ RS and 20k+ DS (probably not this high pre 85, but still up there), considering the frequency you can use these abilities, quest mobs will not last long.

You can kill stuff faster in a dps spec, but not much faster, and [for me] the benefits of leveling in blood totally outweighed the cons.
