Archeology Tips?

There's the most common one which is get your Archeology to 100 before solving anything.

I read one earlier that said something about not going past a certain level to make sure you can farm artifacts while still being able to loot the max amount of them (6) but can't for the life of me find it again. Search didn't find anything :/

and apart from that, best tip you'll ever get is : buy a lot of weed, make yourself a mix of music you like and have a small window with some hardcore porn you can tab to while your char flies.

Its the best way to make archaeology less painful

Archaeo is fun, nothing better than running around digging for achies and for all those random use items, that I love to fill my bags up with.

Don't do it for anything except for the hell of it, if this thing is your definition of fun.


If you're doing it to get a particular item, just stop, and spend your time doing something better. The chances of getting the epic BoA weapons is astoundingly low.

less artifacts but more shards to make them when you stop getting points from looting fragments. i wish i did it honestly =(

What you could do if you are leveling it to try your luck in the archaeology lottery for lets say Zin'rokh is save up all your troll relics and start discovering them after you hit 450 on other digsites.
This will greatly lower the leveling speed of your archaeology but will increase your chances on said item. (even if its still RNG)

What I did was getting GatherMate2 (or a similar addon) and stay on one continent. I recommend Eastern Kingdoms, if you are not after something special and just want to skill up. If i.e. you are after Tol'vir stuff, stay on Kalimdor right from the start.
After some time you have most of fragment positions nailed down and can stand right on top of it right away, when you are pointed in the direction of a known fragment position, instead of pinning it down with two or three more surveys. Saves quite some time.
