    Brewing Profession Idea

Welcome to the Thread for the Brewing Profession Idea. This is an attempt to provide a viable idea for a Brewing Profession. Note that this is currently a Work In Progress, and that changes and additions will come about.

    START

Brewing is a profession that allows players to mix together brews, yielding random results with each mix.

Brewing trainers teach only Proficiency Levels and crafting Kegs and Skins. Proficiency Levels determine what ingredients the brewer can utilize, with each level allowing a wider variety of usable ingredients.

Brewers will have to explore for recipes by mixing up to four usable ingredients together into a brew "sample". These samples will show whether the brew has a beneficial or detrimental effect by automatically testing it on the brewer on the spot. Intoxication is a guaranteed effect. The brewer then may save the recipe for duplication purposes. The brewer must have a skin or keg ready for when he wants to mix together some more brew.

Brew is retained in either skins or kegs. Skins are created once, and are never destroyed on use, rather the consumer must "fill" the skin back up by either tapping the keg or mixing some brew together and manually fill it up.

Kegs retain unlimited brew during it's 1 minute duration on the ground, and allows anybody with a skin to fill it up for free. Kegs require 4x the ingredients that a skin would require, and likewise are not destroyed on use.

The effects of brew vary from a Sprint buff, to a "Drunken Haze" that grants the player a 30 second Haste buff, like Heroism/Bloodlust. Players using these buffs constantly would have to get used to being drunk quite often, which has it's own effects. Some "Detrimental" effects would vary from being locked in fear for a bit, or causing the player to miss 50% of attempted attacks for a time. Some effects are purely visual, like having the player belch fire constantly.

    TBC...

Does this not seem a bit like Alchemy? your mixing things together to create a brew which gives you buffs etc:

It is different, players have to explore various mixes to gain the brew they want. There are no recipes for Brewing besides Keg/Skins. And for every character, it's randomized.
