Lightbulb Guide to fun, transformation, shape shifting, class mimicking, and other bizzare etc!

Welcome to Taedran's Guide to transformation, shape shifting, partying, class mimicking, and other bizzare etc! AKA "How to Impress Your Friends"

This guide covers many aspects of the vanity sub-game within World of Warcraft, and can easily turn your boring life of being a casual or a hardcore raider / PvPer into one of rich fulfillment on a never-ending journey to the more entertaining and fun aspects of World of Warcraft!

The table of contents are listed with specific numbers and letters assigned to corresponding sections, so if you want to quickly jump to say... the "CM3. Mage" section, Press Crtl+F and search for CM3.

DISCLAIMER: Right now, I am on the other side of the country and my computer is at home. I'm on an awful laptop for the next 2 weeks and am not able to log onto WoW. This list is obviously incomplete, as there are tons of items that fit into these categories. I am missing some items on these lists, and I am just adding them by memory. It is very likely I will get home in 2 weeks, log onto my character, and find a few items in my inventories that aren't on this list. Also, remember that Blizzard is constantly adding items to the game, so this guide will become more and more obsolete as time goes on. Once I get home, I will make updates to this guide as often as I can... as long as it gets enough interest by the community.

    Transformations
    TR1. What are they?
Transformations are items, trinkets, spells, and other such abilities that transform your character to look like something else. There are many available, and tracking them all down is going to take a while!

This guide doest not include transformations that are only obtained and useable in a specific area or during a specific quest. The purpose of this guide is to entertain your friends, so you will obviously need to be able to transform anywhere at any time! This includes seasonal items. So the hallowed wands during the Hallow's End event, for example, will not be included. Not only because you can't use these on yourself, but also because when you are getting this item... so is everyone else, and it will hardly impress/entertain your friends!

    Party Items
    PI1. What are they?
Party items are items that you can place in certain, specified locations. Which, when enough are used, creates a fun little area around you that surrounds you with clickable, entertaining items that will make other players flock around you and bask in your merriment.

I am not including the various cooking feasts that provide raid buffs on this list (Small, Great, Gigantic, Fish, Fisherman's, Dragon, and Magnifique Fish) because I'm sure you already know of them and have seen them everywhere... therefor, not good for impressing your friends.

    Class Mimicking
    CM1. What is it?
Class mimicking is exactly what it says. Through the use of specific gear and Use: items/trinkets, you can both look like a class and act like a class.

    CM2. How do I mimic a class?
Obviously you aren't actually turning into a different class, so if people mouse-over you, your name will still say Paladin, Warrir, Rogue, etc. But you would be surprised how often looks alone set up peoples expectations. The hilarity of pretending I'm a Mage, dueling a guy, and casting Mage spells at him... then when almost dead, bubbling and healing and hearthing... creates some great moments of shock with the surrounding people. Hopefully the friends you are trying to impress.

    CM3. Mage
The Outfit: Below is a list of necessary (or at least highly recommended) gear you will need to complete the aesthetics of the illusion. If anyone finds a better costume, and other pieces of armor, please feel free to send me a message here on the forums, or just reply to this thead.

    Helmet: Circle of Flame
•Drops from Ambassador Flamelash in Blackrock Depths
•The less-great version of this, if you don't want to go through the hastle is:Crown of the Fire Festival
•A crown with the same model, Crown of Destruction, drops from Ragnaros in Molten core with a much higher chance
•So why get this hardest-to-get one then? Because of its use. When you use it, you channel a spell and a large tornado of fire swirls around you. Now obviously this isn't a mage spell, but early-expansion like this, folks might believe they just didn't know of this "new fire mage spell"

    Shoulders: Mana-Sphere Shoulderguards
    •Drops from Zereketh the Unbound
•Not much to say about this one, it just looks mage-y

    Chest: Pick One
•Yeah, no realy... just pick one you think suits your outfit the best. My computer is on the other side of the country and my WoW-worthy laptop is broken, so I can't recall which robe I picked. But it doesn't really matter. Of course, if you think you found a pretty special one, link it to me in a private message or comment in this thread.

Weapon: Aboriginal Rod, Elder's Amber Stave, or any other staff-like off-hand
•We use an off-hand staff-looking item so that the many classes that can't wield staves can look like they're holding one. This really throws folks for a loop if they think they know what you are just by looking at you.
•Again, if you find an exceptionally particular one, feel free to share it

The Spells: So you've got the look down now, but that just means you look like a mage! Why does that matter when you can't even cast any mage-like spells? So follow along, and I'll show you how to become a Fire mage.

Flame Orb: Shard of the Fallen Star,
•Drops a huge, flaming meteor on your opponent
•Obviously not a mage spell, but definitely gives off the feel of a fire mage
•Drops from trash mobs in AQ40

    Blazing Speed: Nitro Boosts,
•Makes fire come out of the back of your feet. Also makes you run fast, but psha. Just stand there and keep farting fire

    Dragon Breath: Sulfuron Slammer,
•Will make your character a darker shade of reddish orange, but drink enough and you'll belch fire.
•Use in conjunction with the boots to have fire coming out of both ends, if you catch my draft. (pun fail)

    Fireball: Magic Candle,
•Here we go, an actual mage spell. This item is a one-time use item that just fires a fireball at your opponent. Just like a mage
•Drops from Kobold Geomancer in Elwynn Forest

Ice Block: Lord of Frosts' Private Label,
•So not exactly a fire mage spell, but is definitely a mage spell! This item causes the exact same effect as Ice Block
•Obtained from Brew of the Month and other fun sources. Stock up while you can!

    Invisibility: Invisibility Field,
