Help me out please.

Ok so I need some advice on my mage. I pull about 10k average dps on boss fights as frost but was wondering if I am really getting the most out of my toon right now. Aside from equipment upgrades what can I do to my mage RIGHT NOW to make him all he can be? Also I have yet to gem so suggestions on gems would be great as well. As well as what the best spec would be for my gear and stats.

If you are not raiding and only running heroics, you can reforge all your hit. Only need about 6% hit for heroics, if that.
As for geming, I would get a +crit & crit dmg meta and gem to get your meta and your slot bonuses. Personally I am not buying rare gems until either the prices come down or I start getting epics, whichever comes first. The cata uncommon gems are reasonably priced and provide decent stats.

Drop the hit if you only do heroics.

You should be doing at least 12k dps.
