Why do you even watch episodes in theaters?

For the same reason you go to watch other things in theaters. The atmosphere. The social aspect. The better screen and sound-system. Making an event out of it.

Yeah, that's the reason i didn't want to watch the 50th in cinemas...i pretty much had to send everyone outside the house when watching it so it wouldn't be interrupted on tv :S

Yeah, those are what I was thinking about, there were a number of Strax-narrated "histories" on the previous incarnations of the Doctor.

Last theater I went to had an awesome rule : "we will not hesitate to pause the movie and escort you out of the venue if you use your phone during the movie".

Going to the washroom seems like a silly thing to be annoyed over. If you gotta go you gotta go, they're probably annoyed about having to miss some of it themselves but you can't exactly go in a bottle :P

The other things are pretty valid though. Phone is the worst offender, especially when they have screen brightness on high and you get that bright light from someone's phone lighting up your vision all the time.

There's just something about Matt Smith's that I loved.

I like all of them in their own way. They each kind of represent the current doctor and the show at the time. That's not the right Capaldi theme though.

Since I still like season 5 and 6 the best so far, I'm going to go with Smith's.

Tennanat's definitely. I liked Matt's as well, but the whole Amy talking thing got SUPER old really fast. Like it was pretty neat the first time, but when I realized it was going to happen over and over. Meh.

The thing that really annoyed me about Amy's voice over was that, even though I like Amy, it made it seem the show was more about her than the Doctor.

I wish Doctor Who would have more serials, like episodes where the plot extends to the next episode. Or at least an overarching theme instead of just randomly throwing in a scene at the end unrelated to the rest of the episode. These one-and-done episodes struggle. There's always some deus ex machina ending that reveals some quirky thing about aliens or time travel. It's the same formula used in previous seasons, even though Moffat clearly stated he was changing the formula. Annoys me. Without spoiling anything, I've seen the screeners for the first five episode: the formula is the same, too much time is wasted on setup, character development is inconsistent, and every episode seems to have some sort of Sherlock mystery to be solved. I'm not very impressed with this season. I thought they were going darker with the Doctor's character, and going to put in a good overarching plot, but nope it's the same old one episode plots that never quite reach excellence.

Season 6 was not too popular to some people because it had a big story. I personally think Season 5 did it as it should be.

Here in the UK I had to listen to that intro every episode, Arlee is right it did get a bit redundant, still not as bad as Avatar and Katara though :P

That's how the show originally was, one story was a serial of 2-6 episodes, usually 4 on average, which gave each story about 2 hours of running time, which allowed for good pacing, no deus ex machina nonsense, and not using the sonic screwdriver as an all-purpose problem solver (the Doctor actually had to *investigate* and *learn*, not just wave his tool around and know everything).

I don't understand why Doctor Who doesn't go for a season long arc at least.

I think Moffat has demonstrated quite clearly that any time he writes a season long arc it's riddled with plot holes and inconsistency. His strength is in stand alone episodes. Under a different show runner I'd love to see a completely serialised season, but under Moffat I'd love to see a dozen great, standalone episodes with no overarching plot whatsoever.

I'm in the UK as well. Definitely wasn't in every episode. It might have been in one.
