I tried really hard to find 10 Albums that are really important to me... but i came to a the conclusion that i rather remember the songs more than the album that they are on. So the only 2 Albums that come to my mind that had a really a influence on me as a whole are:

Nirvana - Nevermind ... what should i say to that Album that isnt said, just brilliant.

H-Blockx - Time to Move ... that Album drove me to the Style of the Music I listen to.

Pink Floyd - Dark side of the moon, been with me since I was 5, love this album and will never let it go
Paul oakenfold - collection of different artists, really got me into electronic music, can't remember which, exactly
Hybrid - I choose noise, absolutely amazing album
Mannheim steamroller - Christmas album, I love this album, and refuse to listen to many Christmas albums that aren't plain instrumental.
I can't honestly think of any more, but those have the most impact on my life

    1. Master of Puppets - Metallica (my music taste today could be completely different today if not for this album and I wouldn't be playing a guitar either propably)

After this the list is in no particular order.

    2. ...And Justice For All - Metallica
    3. the black album - Metallica
    4. Demanufacture - Fear Factory (pure perfection, not a single bad or boring moment on the whole album)
    5. Epitaph - Front Line Assembly
    6. The Blackening - Machine Head
    7. Burn My Eyes - Machine Head (the best debut album ever imo)
    8. The Fragile - Nine Inch Nails

Radiohead, OK computer: Pretty much changed my look on music

Arcade fire, the suburbs: 3rd times a charm, yet to hear something new that can top it

Radiohead, In rainbows: The most beautiful sounds by a band that are still good on their 7th LP

Blur, 13: Loved the massive change from the britpop sound

The Strokes, Is this it?: Just awesome

Kid cudi, man on the moon 1: Sticks out like a sore thumb among all the shitty mainstream rap

Foo fighters, echoes silence patients and grace: just great

Black keys, Brothers: Got me into modern blues

Massive attack, collected: Just fucking wow

LCD soundsystem, sound of silver: James murphy is genius!

    1. Amorphis - Silent Waters: No contest. My all-time favourite album ever. Hauntingly beautiful songs and Finnish mythology, what's not to like? Besides, Shaman.

    2. Pink Floyd - Dark Side of the Moon: Amazingly paced, amazing songs, amazing topic.

    3. Pink Floyd - Wish You Were Here: Apart from Have a Cigar I absolutely love it.

    4. Iron Maiden - The Final Frontier: This may sound blasphemous, but I think it's their best album ever. Yes, even better than...

    5. Iron Maiden - Seventh Son of a Seventh Son: Beautiful album, for a long time my favourite Maiden album of them all. And that's saying a lot.

    6. Amorphis - Tales From the Thousand Lakes: A legend, pure and simple.

    7. Nightwish - Century Child: I adore the album, especially their take on The Phantom of the Opera.

    8. Amorphis - Skyforger: Just plain beautiful.

    9. Amon Amarth - Twilight of the Thunder God: Brutal, melodic, powerful.

    10. Iron Maiden - Piece of Mind: One word. "FLYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY YYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!"

Honorable mention: Grand Magus - Hammer of the North: If you don't know them... now's the time to check them out. Good ol' heavy metal.

    7. Nightwish - Wishmaster
    8. Avril Lavigne - the best damn thing

This might take a while for me to write, but here it goes.

    1) Opeth - Blackwater Park

Hands down my favorite album of all time. I was in highschool when it came out and it changed my world. I saw them when they went on tour for that album and haven't miss a tour since.

    2) Porcupine Tree - In Absentia

This album was around the same time as blackwater park and had the same effect on me. They are just amazing.

    3) Between the Buried and Me - Alaska

I was hesitant in picking this up because a friend had told me they were a vegan screamo band. While the vegan part was right (can't win'em all eh?) they are anything but screamo. Some of the best progressive/extreme metal on this album.

    4) A perfect Circle - Mer De Noms

Sure I could have picked a Tool album, but this album is just perfect in every way. If I am ever finding myself in a mellow mood, I just toss this on and enjoy.

    5) Death - The Sound of Perseverance

The birth of Tech-death, need I say more?

    6) Nevermore - Dead heart in a dead world

Warrel Dane is one of those vocalist that just knocks your socks off from the first note and never ceases to amaze.

    7) Bloodbath - Resurrection Through Carnage

Old school death metal from members of Opeth and Katatonia? sold.

    8) Divinity Destroyed - Eden in Ashes

Most of you will have never heard of these guys (which is an absolute shame because they are amazing). They were a local New Jersey band who broke up not too long ago. All of their stuff was awesome, but this album felt the most refined. I recommend looking their stuff up on last.fm or itunes.

    9) Sonata Arctica - Winterheart's Guild

Finish power metal at its best. What else can I saw about this. The happiest metal you could ever hear.

    10) Dream Theater - Metropolis Part 2: Scenes from a memory

The greatest swan song ever sung. The last great album of a dead band. Yes I know they are still around that the albums after this were not the worst but with Portnoy gone this band is dead to me.

This is in no particular order and while for a few of the bands especially Dream Theater and RUSH I decided to limit myself to one album per band.

Dream Theater - Metropolic Part 2 - Scenes From a Memory - You can debate its the greatest concept album ever.
RUSH - Signals - Great prog album and has my favorite song by them, Subdivisions
Queensryche - Operation Mindcrime - Can also be debated as one of the greatest concept albums ever.
Symphony X - V - First album I heard by them and loved it
Blind Guardian - Nightfall in Middle-Earth - Concept album about Tolkien's, The Silmarillion
Metallica - Master of Puppets - Their best album and their best song
Flogging Molly - Swagger - Celtic Folk Punk at its finest
VNV Nation - Futureperfect - The cd alienated some fans as it moved from EBM to synthpop but I love it
Iron Maiden - Number of the Beast - Every song has turned into a classic of theirs
Iced Earth - The Glorious Burden - Unfortunately this is the only Iced Earth album I have picked up so far, but I really liked it a lot.

Get their older stuff. Matt Barlow destroys Ripper when it comes to vocals.
