    Smile Konijnen's Archeology Guide

Archeology is a secondary profession that allows you to dig up hidden artifacts of lore. You will also have the chance to work on on fun or useful items for your characters. To get started simply visit one of the following trainers (ask a city guard to mark the trainer on your map.)

    Apprentice (Req. Lvl 20) 1-75
    Journeyman (Req. Lvl 20 & Archeology 50) 76-150
    Expert (Req. Lvl 20 & Archeology 125) 151-225
    Artisian (Req. Lvl 35 & Archeology 200) 226-300
    Master (Req. Lvl 35 & Archeology 275) 301-375
    Grand Master (Req. Lvl 65 & Archeology 350) 376-450
Illustrious Grand Master (Req. Lvl 75 & Archeology 425) 451-525

Learn Apprentice Archeology from your trainer. Open the professions tab of your spellbook (hotkey = P) to view the new options.

Click on the Archeology icon on the right. Once you start surveying you will use this menu to track your current Archeology projects.

Click on the in the top left corner. A guide will pop up. Take time to read it and make note of what the dig sites look like.

Bring up your map (hotkey = m) and look at either Eastern Kingdoms or Kalimdor to find your first batch of dig sites. You will have 4 sites per continent at a time which are unique to you. This is great news on crowded servers as no one can steal your artifacts! Select a spot for your first dig and travel to the center of the highlighted area. Use your Survey ability to place your archeology equipment. Look for the color of the proximity indicator light and the direction your scope faces. The scope will be pointing in the general direction that your fragments are hidden. A red light indicates you are far away, a yellow light indicates your getting closer, and a green light indicates your just a few paces away.

Continue surveying and following the scope until you unearth your first fragments (screenshots of the fragments appear below). Click the fragment that appears to loot it. Repeat this prodess 2 more times - there are are 3 hidden locations at each dig site. Open your archeology project menu and click the race which has been highlighted to see what your first project is.

It's recommended you do not solve any projects until you reach 100 Skill in archeology. Up to 100 you can skill off of digging afterwards you can only skill off of solving artifacts. If you are going for a specific rare it is wise to save all solves for that race until you cap off your archeology.

Certain projects will allow you to add a special race specific item to complete them faster. You have a chance to dig up these items. They can also be traded or bought off the Auction House.

Continue digging & solving artifacts. Be sure to visit the trainer as needed! At 300 skill you will have dig sites appear in Outlands. At 375 skill Northrend dig sites are available & at 450 sites may appear in Uldum. Past projects can be reviewed at any time using the purple tab of the Archeology menu.
