An Alchemist's Guide to Gold Making

An Alchemist's Guide to Gold Making

Hello there, fellow Alchemists. Are you struggling for gold after Deathwing, the Aspect of Death emerged from the Maelstrom and went on his rampage of destruction? Not a problem! This alchemy gold guide is going to help you get through these tough times. First of all I'm going to say that this guide is intended for people who have Alchemy and Herbalism as their 2 professions. Mat prices are quite high for Alchemy and a lot of the times mats will cost more than the item made.

    Flasks

Flasks right now are very expensive and sell very easily. But if you are not a herbalist this is probably more of a loss than a profit. There are 5 different flasks I'm going to cover now. My advice is to look at your realm's auction house and see which one sells for the highest price.

    Flask of the Draconic Mind
    1xCrystal Vial
    12xTwilight Jasmine
    12xAzshara's Veil
    6xVolatile Life

The crystal vial can be bought from a vendor. The Twilight Jasmine and Azshara's Veil can be farmed by herbalists or bought off the Auction House. If you are a herbalist and farmed the herbs you should have plenty of volatile life.

Here is a route to farm Twilight Jasmine. This requires 525 herbalism. If the image doesn't load here is the link.

Here are the routes to farm Azhara's Veil. This requires 425 herbalism.

    Flask of the Winds
    1xCrystal Vial
    12xWhiptail
    12xAzshara's Veil
    6xVolatile Life

The Crystal Vial is bought from a vendor. The Volatile Life is found from gathering herbs or you can buy them cheap from the Auction House. Azshara's Veil and Whiptail can be farmed or bought from the Auction House

Here is the Whiptail route. This requires 500 herbalism.

The Azshara's Veil routes can be found above.

    Flask of Titanic Strength
    1xCrystal Vial
    12xWhiptail
    12xCinderbloom
    6xVolatile Life

The Crystal Vial is bought from a vendor. The Volatile Life is found from gathering herbs or you can buy them cheap from the Auction House. Cinderbloom and Whiptail can be farmed or bought from the Auction House

Here are the Cinderbloom routes. This requires 425 herbalism.

The Whiptail route can be found above.

    Flask of Flowing Water
    1xCrystal Vial
    12xStormvine
    12xHeartblossom
    6xVolatile Life

The Crystal Vial is bought from a vendor. The Volatile Life is found from gathering herbs or you can buy them cheap from the Auction House. Heartblossom and Stormvine can be farmed or bought from the Auction House

Here is the Heartblossom route. This requires 475 herbalism.

    http://img403.imageshack.us/img403/9...artblossom.png

Here are the Stormvine routes. They require 425 herbalism.

    Flask of Steelskin
    1xCrystal Vial
    12xTwilight Jasmine
    12xCinderbloom
    6xVolatile Life

The Crystal Vial is bought from a vendor. The Volatile Life is found from gathering herbs or you can buy them cheap from the Auction House. Cinderbloom and Twilight Jasmine can be farmed or bought from the Auction House

The Cinderbloom and Twilight Jasmine routes can be found above.

    Potions

I have been looking at the Auction House and found that only Potion of Treasure Finding is making a decent profit so I will only list that one.

    Potion of Treasure Finding

    1xCrystal Vial
    4xStormvine
    4xWhiptail
    8xCinderbloom
    6xHeartblossom

The Crystal Vial is bought from a vendor. All of the herbs can be farmed or bought from the Auction House.

All of the herb's routes can be found above.

    Transmution

I'm gonna give 2 options here. I'm gonna leave the gem transmutions out. I looked at the prices of mats and found that it's a very small or no profit made from gem transmutions. The 2 transmutions share a 12 hour cooldown so you are going to have to decide on one of them.

    Truegold
    3xPyrium Bar
    10xVolatile Fire
    10xVolatile Air
    10xVolatile Water

The only way to get Pyrium Bars is by either buying them from the Auction House or making them yourself, but Pyrium Bars share the same cooldown as Truegold so if you want to make it quickly I would buy them from the Auction House.

Volatile Fire can be bought from the Auction House or can be farmed from mobs on this link.

Volatile Air can be bought from the Auction House or can be farmed from mobs on this link.

Volatile Water can be bought from the Auction House or can be farmed from mobs on this link.
    http://www.wowhead.com/item=52326

    Transmute: Living Elements
    15xVolatile Life

Volatile Life is normally found when gathering herbs and can be bought from the Auction House. Transmute: Living Elements turns 15 Volatile Life into 14-16 different volatiles. By going to a special zone, you can control what Volatiles are created. Here are the zones and what Volatiles are made there.

    Mount Hyjal=Volatile Fire
    Vashj'ir=Volatile Water
    Deepholm=Volatile Earth
    Uldum=Volatile Air
    Twilight Highlands=Volatile Shadow

So there you have it. I haven't posted any costs due to different realms having different item prices.

nice guide, but i have found that transmute living elements, makes SOO MUCH more gold that the truegold. hears why even if ur not a transmution master.
    1) buy 15 volatile life for 6-9gold a piece depending on server. thats abotu 150 gold. transmute in uldum. get 14-16 volatile air. 30-60gold depending on server thats a wopping 500% profit. usually around 400gold. while the truegold is about 200g. save ur transmute for living elements.!

    Great guide!

I just would also like to add on that selling flasks on nights of raids can significantly boost your income and save you a lot of time.

I found that on my server a lot of guilds are raiding on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday nights - so that is when I post all of my flasks.

Okay, nice guide, I really liked your farming routes. But I have to make two corrections regarding the Transmutes:

First of all, basically everything that's not a gem shares a 24 hour CD, not a 12h. The CD is reset every night at 12am, so if you do your transmute at 12pm, it would have a 12h CD. If you do it at 8pm it would be 4h, and so on.
Second: In the two months Cata is out now I have NEVER encountered Volatile Shadow. Not even once. I don't think its even in the game, at least it's not needed for anything and I never saw it. It might be added in a future patch though, so the Volatile Shadow transmute in Twilight Highlands might make sense. But now: Almost certainly not.

24 hour cooldown, not 12. Can only do one Xmute a day.

    Please edit this in.
    I was a Death's Demise.
Those were the good old days.

if you happen to be xmute spec you could gamble by simply giving away your cd and keep any procs
to do this you must never say that you are xmute spec and you must never group with the person your giving the free xmute
when i do this and they try to group with me i just use the dungeon finder excuse
so far i havent gotten any procs when giving away my xmute but most of them tipped despite not having to
could possibly score up to 4 truegold or 14-16 volatiles
yes this may sound pretty underhanded but its completely legit so long as you didn't agree to give them the procs

nice guide but I have to comment on this:

"But if you are not a herbalist this is probably more of a loss than a profit."

whether you are an herbalist or not has nothing to do with whether a combine is profitable or not

alchemy is in a tough spot at the moment because of the way inscription has driven up the price of herbs

Also, I would like to point out Tol Barad Peninsula and Tol Barad each have their own herbs as well. I usually farm all my Azshara's Veil there.

This isn't an "Alchemist's Guide to Gold Making".

You're just showing some farm routes for herbalists and list some alchemy recipes... You even say that flasks tend to sell cheaper than mats, so why would you even make any ? Just sell the herbs.

This. Time spent farming herbs is still money, so if making the flasks to sell garners less profit than selling the herbs, then sell the herbs.

The addon you used to get those pictures is Routes I guess... That coupled with Gatherer/gathermate2/gathermate2data will give you all spawn points and routes will calculate the most efficient route between them based on your specs and display it on your map/minimap so you can follow it very easily in game.

The maps are nice, but the addons are far more practical to use for efficiency in game, so you might want to suggest people use them and provide links to them as well

if ure transmute mastery truegold might be the better option
