The brand new awesome Sandy-Bridge architectured 2500k i5 CPU
Will it require a new socket to fit in, or I will be able to plug it in my current 1156 socket mobo? (currently using an Asus P7P55D). Any other things that will require some updating?
I don't really feel like buying new parts when mine are already good, you know...
Anyway, thanks.
They made them ONE pin different socket-wise to ensure people go out and buy new motherboards for them too. I hate tactics like this, and so having recently bought an i5 760 after my old computer bit the big one, I'm going to be sticking with my lesser-performing system for quite a while, and upgrade to whatever I feel like in the years to come. /rant over : )
Yea I'll definitely not be upgrading my i5-760 for the i5-2500k. I'll probably wait for the Nvidia 600 series before I upgrade my PC again. But if your computer is older and your looking to get a new one, the new one is definitely recommended.
