Question about GPUs

I was curious what the actually differences in ATI and NVidia cards were. Not benchmarks and performance-wise but the actually differences in how they work. Do they render differently would be an example of the kinda answers i'm curious about. I'm not interested in fanboy flaming but am actually curious what the differences are.

Thanks for the links, i know its not hardcore techie site but most posters seem knowledge enough and i'm not a super techie so I kinda wanted answers I could wrap my brain around. Again thanks for the links
