BGs pop within 5 min for me. Randoms can take up to 40min.
Lot at thinking 60-64 is even close to 85. The VAST VAST VAST majority of active players are lvl 85, they've been 85 for ages. Even if we assumed that everyone who levels from 60-64 does it through BG (which they don't, PvP sucks even at 85, why would you prefer it to anything else at 60...) it would still not even be close.
just an assumption with out an argument. a) if a lot of players have been 85 for sooo long it becomes more likely they would twink up an alt, seen that new class-race combos are available and 2 new races.
b) many players that havent played during wrath have come back to cata (just watch the trade channel for the people not knowing stuff about wrath). which further increases the lowbie population
c) how do you know that there are so much more 85 than lowbies? exactly! they are standing in the major cities doing partially nothing, some are chatting, waiting for the raid to start or simply sit in the AH scanning.
in the mean time: the waittime for horde BGs on my server (bgs are region wide but whatever) on 85 is +30min while it is 10-15min below that level. I have tested this during my leveling and its right for 10-14, 15-19, 35-39, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64 and 65-69. these are the level areas I have queued often for BGs.
In addition to that, supporting my "players coming back to wow" you see about 30% of an alterac valley raid wear high warlord gear. Now, I would understand that on pvp twinks but they are actually leveling in BGs with that gear. That would practically mean that many that have played pvp during classic times are now leveling these alts up increasing the % of lowplayers joining BGs.
writing "vast" in capitals 3 times doesnt make an assumption a fact. now you can choose to stay on "i think its like that because it has to be" or you can start to make arguments and observations to underline why you think its that way.
Just log in and do /who requests. /who 1-10, 11-20 etc and sum up all the low alts up to 79. then crawl through the classes at 85 with /who 85 warrior, paladin etc. Im on a server with about 9k active horde, so there are about 1-2k online primetime. I bet youll be surprised of how the ratio between <80 and 85 really is.
