Valiona & Theralion - mysterious blackout cleanse/dispel??

Hi folks,

Last night during an attempt one of our shaman got Blackout on him and 1s later it was cleansed/dispelled so it of course pwned his face before we collapsed. No one confessed to doing anything so we reviewed the logs and nobody could figure out what happened. Just wondering if anyone knows of some bug that could cause this or something else that might not show up in combat log?

Look for these lines and all surrounding events:

2011-01-16 22:41:35.426 Xslik affected by Valiona's Blackout.
2011-01-16 22:41:36.583 Xslik's Blackout ( Valiona's debuffer ) is removed.
2011-01-16 22:41:36.668 Xslik lost 137445 hitpoints.

We're perplexed and would appreciate any info you could share.

happened to us to 1 out of 7 attempts, not sure why. killed them on next attempt.

Blackout is a healing absorb debuff, if you heal it off it's the same as dispelling. I see that he got a word of glory and several ticks of wild growth, which was probably what did it.

well, just scrolling through the log you provided i found several lines showing healing done (even though it is absorbed because of blackout) to Xslik (after black out was applied) which is probably what removed blackout causing them to die.

It makes an absorb shield of about 20k or so. So you can cleanse it just heal the shield out to pop it.

You healed him to full which is the same as dispelling more than likely.

2011-01-16 22:41:36.583 Gobias's Rejuvenation heals Xslik for 181 hitpoints.

It was dispelled via healing.

same thing happens to us sometimes. not sure exactly what is causing it. only thing i can think of, is the secondary effect of blackout. it absorbs (according to wowwiki) 20,000 healing. if someone healed them more than that, it would remove the debuff.

Awesome, thanks for clearing that up. We must have healed it off him. Our entire raid was oblivious to that fact that healing it off is same as dispel. Will let them know.

We got a few surprise explosions until we realized that healers should stop all non-tank healing two or so seconds before blackout.
