Warlock is the least played class.

    According to Warcraftrealm.com
Warlock is indeed the least played class,

Do you guys have any idea why?

it's the first class i picked when i started playing in vanilla and tried multiple class after,
But i always come back to the sweet shadow and darkness a warlock has.

    But seriously, why?

We've always been a viable class during ALL expansions,
we've also had been Overpowered at least once in every expansion (don't tell me it does not affect SOME people choice when they re-roll , because it does, not me, but some people)

    i just don't get why,

during vanilla i got 6 piece of my t2 only because i was the only warlock in the god damn 40 man raid...

It just does not make sense to me.

I've always wondered this myself. I guess a lot of people prefer mage over warlock for the whole caster deal.

Ima have to say its the same boring demons, seriously cant I go out in the wild and tame a demon or something that I like. And they all look same I guess. I always have respect for warlocks for some reason as I like the class but yet can force my self to play it. I might reroll to it in a week.

I always figured it was because DoTs were complicated to some people, but I don't know. Could just be because flinging fire and ice is more attractive than flinging pure darkness(?). People are weird.

I have characters above level 60 for every class except warlocks. The most recent expansion made them much more interesting to me, but I still find myself playing other classes. My issue with them was always the same: yaaaaawnnnnnn.

When I did the quests to cut out that dudes heart, or poison the noble and watch him die in front of me, I almost rerolled.

I always assumed its because it was less impressive as a pet class than Hunters (look at my T-rex or Magmadar) and less impressive as a caster class than Mages.

Personal preference mostly. Mage is more of an iconic caster, so players that are looking for that role might be more inclined to go that way. Same goes for a pet class. Hunter is more iconic as a pet class, so if people want pets, they probably pick hunter over warlock. Warlock also brought the problem of life tapping for mana. Personally, I find that to be a useless mechanic and would prefer not to do that. Even as a healer I would cringe when I say a warlock in the group because I knew it meant extra healing.

Also, if you want to be technical, while the warlock is the least played class overall, rogues are the least played at max level.
No Beta Club. Yeah...I don't have a fancy picture of it.

people are more likely to bag out fear if they have never played a warlock.. thats pretty much everyone..

Don't worry guys, I'll reroll warlock so you can have one more person! Damn priests are so damn stingy with their spirit gear anyway.
My sig was stolen, if you find it please contact me. Thanks.

Because it isn't as flashy as most other DPS classes.

I hate warlock gameplay, dots, relying on a pet, and being a clothie.
I can never see myself playing a warlock.
In all 6 years I play this game I got all classes but hunter/warlock/priest above 20 level, and I am pretty glad I haven't.
I'm more of a "Dual Wield 2handers and wearing plate" type of guy.
    I guess it's people's taste or something.

A friend of mine decided to start wow a month ago, and he told me: "I'm rolling mage", without knowing about how good a frost mage can be, overpowered may be a better word to describe it. And then I asked him why, why not a lock? they're pretty similar. And in all his might he replied: "Cause they got no Frost magic!". He was born for that spec, now he totally destroys 85 people while leveling (83ish atm).

My point being: It's in a person's nature to play what feels more comfortable to him. I am happy with my decisions, hope you're too.

I never got my lock past 60 coz: dot dot dot, send in pet /sleep never felt like a rotation that interested me. I told my guild this and they said "play Destro then! its more like a mage"
they were right! my main is a mage, and the feel was similar, just way less survivabilty. In the end shear boredom made me quit.
I may start up again now I dont have to have a bag totally devoted to soulshards, coz that always bugged me.

Back at the start locks where one of the hardest classes to play. I played a lock for about 4-5 years but i haven't leveled it to 85 as yet and I don't think i will anytime soon. Something about them now I just think meh I'll play my warrior.

I've noticed on all the servers I have been on there are a lot of bad Warlocks, and after playing one I can understand why. This class is challenging, but in a good way.

Those were the quests you had to do back in TBC and before in order to learn how to summon your pets, namely the succubus.
