With great power, comes great responsibility. Majority isn't ready for that.

I have a very similar story to the OP as once I was the only warlock in my first ever 40 man raid in MC. I received a lot of my Tier 1 that night because I was the only warlock out of 40 people there.

I wondered this as well. I made my warlock back in the early days of WoW and the reason I made a warlock was because none of the classes interested me except the warlock class. Not to sound cheap, but I felt it was the only "dark" class that was in the game, and wanted to play an "evil" class. I really don't know why people don't play warlocks though. They are awesome, and have always been extremely variable in PVE and PVP in every expansion.

The only class I feel like I'm good at playing is a lock in pvp and pve both
Why is the lock the least rolled?
    Maybe its the dot's
    Maybe its the pets
    Maybe its the vibe
    Its all on opinion
In mine, the lock is the best class to play. It is pure complexity and simplicity at its finest

ok end rant just they have always been my bane at 70 i was a feral and they ate me alive at 80 i was a frost mage and a muti rogue and they ate me alive

now at 85 a good one will still eat me and finish with full hp and im pretty bloody solid
i guess i need to roll a counter class to an aff lock any ideas i have 1 of each class in various stages of lvl
feral druids and rogues are huge counter classes to locks 1v1 right now, recuperate out heals our dots and feral is incredibly overpowered. mages have 50% magic duration reduction for whatever reason, so it's not like you stay feared for very long anyway. our 1/2 duration dots MIGHT just break ice barrier so you can just put it up again though!

I'd say because they didn't get anything new and exciting this expansion, making people want to reroll one...

haste version of focus magic? zzzz
    fel flame....shitty icelance
and demon soul? crappy buffs from that for the most part...

compared to something completely unique like ring of frost, or flame orb, or even wild mushrooms/spiritwalker's grace or life grip... so much cooler new spells if you want a caster.

only reason i see to play my warlock other than "i just like warlocks" this expansion would be they have lots of CC options now that CC sorta matters... banish is nice, and fear glyphed is one of the better cc's now

Metamorphosis is probably maaaybe most likely my absolute favorite thing in the world.

But before i went demo i was afflic for long time and i thought that was an incredible spec to play for raids. There was something so cool about not seeing any massive numbers on your screen but at he end of the fight still have smoked all other classes on the damage meters.

I really hope they dont screw the talent trees so much that we all have roll destro...

Because back in TBC warlocks were insanely overpowered with the demon/destro hybrid built that spammed shadowbolt. Once the nerf hit (3.0), people put their warlocks on the shelves, because the high we got from being that overpowered was never attainable again. Never again.

Well, I personaly think warlocks is the best class in WoW, but as a pure DPS it's easy to play and hard to master. We have many situational skills, you have to watch for DoT's and use skills during fight wisely. I liked the demon quests very much, also mount quests were cool. I also remember the times when you had to learn all your pet's abilities at trainer. Anyway in conclusion, warlock is way too complicated for most players to play it well. I'd say this class is easy to learn but hard to master Still, best class in WoW in my opinion!

I enjoyed playing my friend's lock in BC. Curse of Shadows and spam Shadowbolt

  11. #51
They only reason I even made a lock was because I liked my hunter so much. Now I dont know which I like more tbh, but the lock does have a shit ton more spells and seems that you need to play harder than most classes I have tried.
    Glory to the Alliance!

it's honestly because a lot of people find the warlock class to level, since it's dot dot shadow bolt and that gets repititive and boring. Everything as a warlock can be predicted when you pve because they don't have that much raid utility in cooldowns just damage.

so a lot of people find warlocks boring to level and play, and then there are people who absolutly love their warlocks for personal reasons.
I'm glad to have multiple personalities, if i didn't i would be talking to myself, and that's just insane.

Rolled a 80 lock hate them in pvp since they're so squishy yet they have zero mobility, which is okay on 1vs1 but annoying in anything more.

    Also demo feels abit clunky.

i love my warlock, and i can't see myself playing anything differnet full time, they are complex but also rewarding when you get it right, very much well worth the play to those who are considering rerolling or just playing one as an alt.

  15. #55
I chose a mage because different feels of the specs. Different spells, different looks, different playstyle. I chose Shadow Priest because I felt I was contributing greatly to the raid, even if I was nothing more than a mana battery. Warlock's different playstyle is either you dot a lot, or you dot less. You use a lot of the same spells regardless of spec, and I felt too much like a hunter with a demon contributing quite a bit to my dps.

In my opinion, they are one of the least interesting classes in the game; however, with some over the changes over the last few months, I may just have to give them another try.

I think warlocks in WoW lack destructive flavor. People who seek it are chosing fire mages over warlocks. Now wondering why there is too many mages :S

Tbh - I think like half of mage fire tree fits warlocks better - If it was where it belongs (that is destro tree) - Warlocks wouldn't be least played class.

  17. #57
I play both, but my mage just has a more appealing set of tools for PVP.

Also, being the least represented class on Warcraftrealms doesn't necessarily make it the least played class. The data is imperfect and I'd think that it matters more what people play a given class as their main or a serious alt at level cap.
I twist the truth, I rule the world, my crown is called deceit
I am the emperor of lies, you grovel at my feet
I rob you and I slaughter you, your downfall is my gain
And still you play the sycophant and revel in your pain
And all my promises are lies, all my love is hate
I am the politician, and I decide your fate

This made me rofl. Thats why you bind your pets abilites and commands, they dont work properly themselves, you have to micromanage, not very hard.

OT: I play warlock because they have so much to do, just rerolled from my Ret pally to my old BC warlock because Ret is just so stupidly dumb and boring... complexity of the class I play drives me to play it more.

Not sure what the problem is. I have always seen people whine about the class but I always loved playing a Warlock.
Sure from time to time it does have its downsides but I imagine every class has its ups and downs and just something you learn to live with.

If you open up your vanilla manual and read the class descriptions of mages and warlocks, mages sound a lot more fun, mostly. I think a lot of old players picked the class based on these when they first started. I know I did. And, as most have said, Mages are the more iconic caster class.
