If you could get a AMD 6850/6870 it would already be an upgrade. Don't expect record-numbers, though.

you will also need a new psu. does your case have full size expansion slots on the back? or are they only ~3 inches wide?

If you get a new PSU and video card, you should be able to run on ultra, but not some insanely high resolution because your CPU is probably going to hold you back quite a bit.

i doubt this. video card will help for other games, and will help a bit in WoW. you'll probably see a 20% increase in FPS over what you are currently getting (10fps -> 12 fps, 20fps -> 24fps), but it definitely won't run WoW on ultra.

20% performance increase upgrading from a 4350 to a 6850/6870? I think not... 4350 is a low end graphics card, and while his WoW performance might not be extraordinarily high with just the GPU upgrade, he will definitely notice a much bigger increase in other games that are not nearly as CPU dependent. WoW doesn't take that much to run on ultra, if I can do it on my 2GHz core i7 laptop with a 6570 (with shadows and water detail low) I'm pretty sure he can do it on his desktop.

I'm speaking in terms of WoW only. Shadows are what kills, almost anything can run the game without shadows

Everyone always says this that is not ultra, and laptops are usually lower resolution
