    Suggestion for MMO-C Forums; rate posts

    Searched and couldn't find anything, so thought I'd ask.

    Has it ever been thought or suggested that you can rate posts on this forum, like you now can on the official WoW forums? I saw someone suggest Heroic SM for 85 and desperately wanted to thumbs it up! Could be integrated into the report function perhaps? I understand you can rate the entire thread but I think it would be beneficial to flag up the very good posts and flag down the spam/troll posts.

    Apologies if this has already been suggested and denied for some reason, though I can't see why it would.

    Ah thanks for moving, I didn't find the suggestion forum but I was being lazy and not looking too hard =P

    Yes you could flag down good posts, but the number of decent people giving the thumbs up would (should) outweigh the deliberate trolls downrating them, surely? I feel it's been successful on the official forums so far.

    But lore/class balance discussion threads would quickly change into "You disagree with me? Downvoted!".
    * Shrug

    I really wouldn't mind seeing a thread rate, so whenever you browse the GD section - you can see which threads are bad and which are good.

    I guess it wouldn't harm to try it out for a couple of days/weeks?
    But it's all up to the admins.
    There's already a thread rating option in place, top right of the thread it says "VIew First Unread, Thread Tools, Show Printable Version, Search Thread, Rate This Thread.

    There's always the chance that people will downrate someone who doesn't agree with them, but if someone makes a really good post which is accurate, correct, insightful and/or funny, it'll get voted up plenty of times even if one person doesn't agree/doesn't like it and ranks it down. And yes, it could always be removed if it doesn't work out.

    The admins disabled it when they changed to Vbulletin.
    There's a lot of good mods for vBulletin that does just this; And I think it would be an excellent idea

    We've talked about it many times; it won't work with the community we have here. It quickly becomes "I don't like you, so I'm going to downrate all your posts", "I disagree with you so I'm going to downrate you", and so on.

    The number of bored, vindictive trolls. If you saw the number of reports we get that are "this person insulted/trolled me" when the person's just presenting a logical counter-argument, you'd see the problem.

    Honestly, I'd love to see something like this happen; we just really need to talk about it and figure out how to avoid those issues. It's still a possibility for the future, if we can find some viable solution.
