Can Addons be written in JavaScript?

I used the search function only thing that came up was 1 thing about keeping addons up to date, so if its out there i tried finding it.

All i really want to know can addons be written in JavaScript?

if there is a list of coding languages that WoW addons can be written in I would love to know it.

Lua, and secondarily XML for frames. Lua can be used for frames aswell.
