11k DPS on Boss Dummy, enough to start raid?

Isn't 11k DPS the same as what people were getting in HM Wrath gear?
...isn't it also considered skilled entry level Heroic instance DPS?

11k on a boss targetdummy is plenty to do normals.

Yeah I was hitting 18k+ on target dummies in WotLK.
Haven't tried any in Cata tbh.

10 and 25 man does not scale in difficulty, so saying you can go 10 man because 25 man requires more is a very stupid remark.
Infact 10 man is harder than 25 man

You actually need to be able to pull more dps as a dps in 10 man than you would in 25 man. But 11k is more than enough self buffed.

A better number would be doing BH in Tol Barad. This has about the smallest amount of movement out of any fight in the game right now, but will give you a better estimate with raid buffs.

11k is fine to me though. Basically if you are to the point where you only need a few upgrades out of heroics, you are fine for raids. Some specs can get away with raiding earlier.

BH 10m requires ~12k dps raid buffed to do your share and beat the enrage. This is ~8k unbuffed, no COE, on a target dummy.

11k is what people were getting in ICC Hardmodes WITH THE 30% BUFF.
Everyone seems to forget that.

I will agree with you here though, 11k should be fine for raid bosses.

The simple answear is that there is no magical number which suddenly makes you good to go for raiidng. If you know the boss encoutners, know your role in those encounters, have decent gear (heroic 5man+), know your spec/class and have a afro you are ready to try out raiding, imo.

11k is fine for dummy dps. In a raid setup with buffs it translates to bout 14-15k which is plenty for normal raiding. As said before doing tactics well is what matters most

Target Dummy is single target unbuffed DPS 11k is pretty decent.

No, not really. DPS for most classes actually went down from 80 (with the inflated stats you had, especially with ARP for melee) to 85 (before you start getting good gear).
