I tried Vashj solo once. Being a Warlock with Engineering it is possible to loot the cores with a Loot-A-Rang then teleport to the beacons however due to the time it took to find and kill the elementals I didn't have time to deal with the sheer number of adds, especialy the striders and they soon overwhelmed me. Plus the stacks of Vashj's debuff was monstrously high.

The problem is that the Tainted Elementals can spawn anywhere and if I remember rightly, despawn after 20 seconds. With such a large area to cover and deal with adds it's extremely taxing. You just don't have time to kill the adds and deal with the cores at the same time.

It may be possible in future expansions when you're powerful enough to kill the adds quickly.

I could see it being done perhaps by the end of Cata depending on how high a gear level Blizz wants to give us.
