Commercial Rap is everything the people have said it is, in a word I'll say terrible. There is good stuff out there but you gotta look underground for it.
    Aesop Rock - Battery

This song still amazes me lyrically and I've listened to it well over 100 times.

Lyrics are not really based on genre, its based on fads within the genre.
Metal was all sex, drugs, and rock n' roll back in the 80s.

But honestly, should I keep reading or does it continue as "herp derp biased uninformed opinions of both genres (also poorly drawn comparisons)."

Edit: Props for posting some POS. Could've picked a much better song, though, imo. Excellent album but that's got to be one of the weakest tracks.
I disagree. I'd say Purexed is easily the best track on the album.

Most of rap has shitty non intelligent lyrics, but there are some songs like http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4bKwc24HL90 where the lyric work is pretty impressive imo.

Rap/Rock mix with good lyrics.. The way music should be imo.

Most of the mainstream anything has stupid repetitive lyrics. Generalizing rap music by what you hear on the radio is ignorant. As people have mentioned before Aesop Rock, Immortal Technique, Diabolic, Lupe Fiasco, Eminem, Ill Bill, La Coka Nostra, Slaine, and many other underground rap artists are amazing. I also listen to a lot of metal as well. Darkest Hour, Between the Buried and Me, Protest the Hero are just a couple of bands i listen to. Basically what i am saying is you can't generalize one genre of music by a couple artists you have heard.

Almost forgot Vinnie Paz and Jedi Mind Tricks...Amazing

Rap - Talking about drugs and sex really fast + sound editing. That's my definition.

The rock I listen to is more of the, "I feel _____ about _____." Seeing I listen to Green Day most of the time, it's a bit more of "I hate government and religion! It's ********!"

Rock has more of a meaning. Rap is just.... ugh.

If one likes the government or religion, Rock's just ... ugh...

Listening mostly to Green day will not help you winning the "rock vs rap" -topic...
