I hope that Rift gets a lot players so Blizzard can put their developer team A to work instead of their B team.

    Hi

Nothing worse then mentioning your competitor in an ad.

To anyone that doesn't play Warcraft at all, it won't matter. To those that do, it's a funny reference.

What is with people and always criticizing Blizzard? They're doing everything they can to please players. Of course, not EVERYONE can be pleased. That's the problem with having 13 million subscribers...

Someone QQs, they fix that, then someone else QQs. Blizz is doing a great job.

They have "Rifts" that open randomly around the world that you have to close...As well as being able to spec in THREE DIFFERENT TALENT TREES AT ONCE! :O

Yeah...I bid them good luck in balancing that.

They also boast tanking priests and rogues.

Hmmm, 14 million active subs. Pretty sure almost anyone even half-assed interested in Rift, plays WoW.

it is no where near 14mil, maybe around 9. there are 13mil ACCOUNTS (including inactive and active), this also doesn't account for those with multiple accounts
    hahaha. no.

    Haters will hate..
It's actually a decent game, I'll be playing them both.
And to the guy slagging the rifting system, wow just wow.

As for the advert, it was the very thing that made me look twice. Excellent idea, that's exactly what they were aiming for I suppose.

Actually I find the game pretty awesome, it feels more realistic than wow, even though some of the things in the game are very, very similar to wow, there's also some very different and new things.
But yeah, mentioning that "We're not in Azeroth anymore" is kinda like a taunt against Blizzard, not a good idea.

Actually thats a good tagline. There are lots of players in WoW who are bored and looking for something new, a new game. That tagline I think directly targets those people.

HOLY SHIT! I HAVE A GREAT IDEA FOR A RIFT AD!

It starts off with an angle of this guy dancing. Then another angle of the same guy. And then another.

And then the words pop up on the screen: 'Hey Blizzard, at least we have a dance studio. ;)'

It is not a WoW ripoff. It does certain things the same, true, but since WoW has done most things already in the 6 years they are around, coming up with stuff that doesn't look remotely like anything from WoW is almost impossible. If you were to nitpick that much you could say WoW is a ripoff of game [insert a couple MMO's before WoW].

Rift also does a couple things that WoW doesn't and it makes the game feel new and refreshing.

No, it's active accounts :P I would imagine Blizz knows the numbers far better than your random guess and assumptions...
