Gem slots in Epic Gear?

I have read, that most crafted epic item will have a gem slot, if it didn't have one before. But after researching both the mmo-champion and wowhead PTR DB I have not been able to find any confirmation in changed items.

While the passage in question "A socket has been added to most crafted epic armor pieces that did not already have one." can be seen in the official patch notes, confirmation from someone on the ptrs would be nice.
