    How well would this work?

Hiya, decided to build myself a new PC, would just like some help regarding how well it would run.

CASE: Antec 300 Black Midi Tower

    DVDROM: Samsung SH-S223L 22xDVD+R, 8x DVD+DL

    RAM: 4GB (2x2GB) Corsair XMS3 DDR3 PC3-12800 (1600)

    MOTHERBOARD: Asus M4A87TD/USB3, AMD 870, S AM3, PCI-E 2.0 (x16) DDR3 2000(OC), SATA 6Gb/s, ATX

CPU: AMD Phenom II X4 955 Black Edition, Sok AM3 3.2GHz

    PSU: 600W Corsair CMPSU-600CX

    GPU: 1GB PNY GTX 460, 3600MHz GDDR5, GPU 675MHz, Shader Clock 1350MHz, 336 Cores, 2 x DL DVI-I

    HDD: 1TB Western Digital WD10EALS Caviar Blue, SATA 3Gb/s, 7200rpm, 32MB Cache

I can't really afford to go any pricier than that, but if anyone could recommend a similar part that would benefit the system more, please say so.

    Thank you

I see no bottlenecks with your build. Looks good IMO.

i'd go for a superclocked gtx 460 if you can. if you have extra money, the gtx 560 is also a very, very solid card

I was going to originally go for a Radeon HD 6850, I saw a review of the PNY GTX 460 that said it was easily overclocked on more than one occasion without any extra cooling, and it was also cheaper than the HD 6850, so would you say that was a good decision?

EDIT: I found this at my local store:
    scan.co.uk/products/1gb-evga-gtx-460-sc-super-3800mhz-gddr5-gpu-763mhz-shaderclock-1526mhz-336-cores-dvi-i-minihdmi

Is that the Superclocked 460 you were referring to?

that would be one of them, yea. there are a bunch of difference versions, i dont know the exact differences but they are much better than the original stock gtx 460's

That seems to be the only one Scan have in stock, but it's had very good reviews! I shall buy a Superclocked edition instead, thank you for the recommendation

i was considering an amd build much like this, i was wondering what ype of gameplay settings you could expect to play with sustaining 50+ fps?

Depends on the resolution. I play at 1680x1050 Ultra 4xAA/16xAF on a GTX275, and it doesn't drop below 50 in Stormwind at prime time (powered by a 4.2GHz i5-2500K), so at least that.

I play at 1920x1080, and right now I play at low settings with projected textures turned on and view distance turned up. So even if I used just highs ettings I am sure I will be happy
