I'm turning it into truegold on my alchemists. Epic gems are at least a year off... and you'll have plenty of time to generate a full cache of it once they announce the epic gems (on the PTR). At that point you'll still have at least a month or more before the major content patch... and thats plenty of time to get a truckload of it.

You could lose some gold if you try to unload everything immediately if blizzard announced that, but as long as your patient it wont hurt too much, and the potential for profit is quite large.
While this seems to make good sense, it has some serious flaws. Such as that once epic gems are released... rare gems will be worth trash.... many already are.

Beyond that, on my server at least, its a huge loss to try prospecting pyrite. The only valuable uses I currently see for it are in making gear and/or truegold. The only thing propping its high price is its scarcity as its not valuable for most JCers currently.

Hmm saw the title and thought this thread was about a fictional and erroneus account of events surrounding the landings in Normandy in June 1944.

I was thinking about the same, actually.

But I am wondering: what is the price for 1 stack of pyrite ore on your realm, folks?

Anywhere from 140-250g lol. I generally buy if its 170 or less. The price varies greatly though. I managed to sell like 10 stacks at 330g last week lol. I noticed price was super high and figured why not unload some for profit :P.

It's not an investment for everyone, if you have lots of liquid gold you can do this. If you are have issues paying for flasks for raids don't bother.

If you are going to save it. The other guy will to and so that other dude on ur server will to and so forther. When the patch comes out to make pyrite or give you epic gems well YOU wont make anything bc of the flooded market. Currently i have over 400 stacks of pyrite or saved up.

As for epic gems being released it wont be in the next 6 months or anything. I would say bout 1 ear and 6 months,.

What's Pyrite selling for on other servers? On mine it's still around 200g / stack, with elementium bouncing between 55-70g/stack. Doesn't seem like a good time to stock up yet.

^ This is spot on the money, currently have a 5 tab guild bank filled with pyrium, as well as three mailers that send it amongst themselves every 30 days.

Some was what I farmed when spawn rate for mining nodes was insane, but mostly I've been buying it for cheap, and simply saving it. Now I have a large stock of gold that I can do this, and its not a big deal.

Also, as some people said about truegold, I'm in the process of saving my truegold for the next raid level, due to the new crafted items will
(I assume) use truegold to craft. I'm doing this, more on the when I have the spare volatiles to craft a truegold, I do and just save it. Since the bs gear is selling for crap on my server, I feel this is a better investment for the long run now

I've got about 8 Stacks or so saved up (not a lot compared to that pic) but If you aren't hurting of cash It wouldn't be a bad idea to save it. Even if you aren't a JC you can sell it for a lot the release of that patch.

Unless, that is, they do a profession overhaul and buff them all up which frankly doesn't make much sense to me just to add epic gems.
They will raise the benefit to all the professions just as they did in Wrath.

    I personally buy 3-4 stacks a day =\

Even if the prices on the gems aren't that high, I'll have plenty for myself, and for cheaper too.

I think that epic gems will not be prospected from pyrite ore and you shouldn't save the ore at all.

In fact, just dump it all on a vendor and get some gold

[crosses fingers that everyone reads this and does it, then I'll cash in.... or no-one from Bronze Dragonflight-EU is reading this thread ]

When do you guys reckon epic gems will be implemented in the game? 4.1?

  15. #35
I have a feeling they will be letting pyrite drop epic gems in the firelands patch, but that could be an over-estimation.

I'm saving what I get here in there that I don't use for a few crafts or xmutes. I don't think there is anything wrong with saving, even if all you do is keep the gems for yourself/your guild/friends.

I have about 45 stacks at the moment. The way I see it, if they introduce epic gems, I'll be rich. If they choose not to, I'll AH it and still be rich. There's no downside whatsoever.
