OT: I haven't done chimaeron yet, let alone any heroic attempts but: Would a hunter with distracting shot and deterrance work too? Or is that damage spread over too lang a time?

It would, but if you have a hunter then you can just have him use his pet that has Intervene, it's more reliable I think.
